Their latest effort, the iTablet T221, packs in some great features, including a 12.1-inch LCD touchscreen (1024 x 768), Intel Core Duo (1.2Ghz), GMA 950 graphic chipset, 60GB HDD, 2GB RAM and supports 802.11a/b/g wireless networks.

The UMPC will run Windows Vista, but there is no pricing or shipping information at present. Naturally, we would be excited, but our morbid obesity is so severe, we can no longer sense our emotions. Yeah Amtek, we know we are fat, but even we have feelings, you know. We'll go drown our sorrows in a high sugar content soda. [Aving via Mobilewhack]

<![CDATA[Shuttle mini x100: Book-Sized Desktop PC]]>

Just how small can a desktop PC get? In the case of Shuttle mini x100, it's just 2 inches tall. While the company's recommended business configuration contains just an Intel Celeron processor, the home version gives you a choice of either a 1.6GHz or a 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo processor.

You can load it up with 2GB of RAM and a 400GB SATA drive, and it includes a 4-in-1 card reader and ATI x1400 graphics with DVI out. Configured to the hilt, it's 1452.00, or $1825. You gotta love the way you can stand up this PC up on end like a book—it's about the size of a dictionary, so it would probably fit just right into a bookcase.

<![CDATA[Acer Intros TravelMate 3020 Ultra-Portable]]> Acer rolled out its TravelMate 3020 dual core laptop in the UK this morning, with a 12.1-inch 1280x800 screen and an Intel Core Duo processor inside. A few nice touches are added to the mini-notebook me-too mix, such as a 1.3-megapixel webcam, 5-in-1 card reader which can come in quite handy on the road, and a 3.63 lb. weight even with the largest battery pack on board. Plus, you can stoke it with two gigs of RAM.

Acer designers seem to think that white is the new black, and try to differentiate their products from all others (except Apple) by blathering on about how white is a reflective color. PR-Speak aside, this is not a bad-looking ultra-portable. Its key attribute, as it is with most Acer products, will be its price, about which Acer was unfortunately coy in its press release today. Let's face it: if it costs less than the 13-inch MacBook, it has a chance. If not, a few Europeans might buy it, but it won't be a world-changing hit. The company was also not forthcoming about this product's release date.

<![CDATA[Jinglehorse EcoSystem: Energy-Sipping PC]]> Laptop manufacturers take advantage of the energy efficiency of the Intel Core Duo processor to extend battery life, and now computer maker Jinglehorse uses that same efficiency to allow its EcoSystem PC to consume 75% less energy than its Pentium 4 counterparts. These electricity-sipping boxes only use about 44 watts while they're sitting still and 75 watts with the pedal to the metal.

Plus, all that energy savings results in less heat, requiring smaller, quieter, and less frequently-running fans. For those of us who leave our computers on 24/7, this $895 computer might just pay for itself after a few years. Good deal.

<![CDATA[MiniPC Japan Rolls Out Weak Boxes]]> MiniPC of Japan has released a small PC (6.2"x5"x2"), where you'll have to sacrifice quite a bit of power to get a box priced anywhere close to a Mac mini. It can be outfitted with a Celeron M420 inside with 256MB of RAM for $887. If you want a setup with an Intel Core Duo, well, that'll cost you $1397, but you get 512MB of RAM.

We're not quite wrapping our minds around this one, since a Mac mini is priced much lower than this, with a Core Duo mini starting at $799, and it lets you boot both Mac OS X and Windows XP. Maybe MiniPC's customers in Japan haven't heard of the Mac mini...?

<![CDATA[LG XNote T1: Slim and Trim to the Max]]> lg_gal_right.jpgThe LG XNote T1 is a 14.1-inch Core Duo laptop that claims to be the world's thinnest at just 21mm. Bringing the war of cellphone thinness to notebooks, LG has really compressed the thickness of this one—we're not sure if it's physically possible to build a laptop any thinner than this.

It'll be available in a couple of wide screen resolution choices including 1280x800 WXGA or 1440x900 WXGA+ , and you can also pack it with up to 4GB of RAM. Its Intel Core Duo L2300 processor runs at 1.5GHz, it has a 5-in-1 memory card slot, fingerprint sensor and of course, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. And, even with all this thinness, there's still a DVD burner inside.

All those specs are well and good, but just look at it. This is one gorgeous-looking notebook, and its improbably thin form factor and 4.2 pound weight certainly make it a candidate for traveling light. Pricing and availability weren't announced.

<![CDATA[Acer Updates 17-Inch Notebook Line]]> Acer Aspire 17-inch laptops get an update in four iterations, where all have a 1440x900 screen and offer notebook shoppers a quartet of trim choices. The 9400 (pictured above) has an Intel Pentium M processor inside, while its more sophisticated brother, the 9410, and runs with an Intel Core Duo chip. Both have ho-hum NVidia GeForce Go 7300 graphics with 64MB of graphics memory, along with 120 gigs of hard disk space.

The top-of-the-line gets a 1.3-megapixel webcam, while the low-end 7100 and 7110 models have Celeron M chips. No pricing or availability info was forthcoming, but you can bet that these cheap notebooks will provide a low-cost alternative to MacBooks with similar screens that cost at least four times more.

<![CDATA[TWave Prime Super Mini: Core Duo Coolness]]> Take a look at this pleasingly slim and small PC, the TWave Prime Super Mini, packing an Intel Core Duo T2300 processor running at 1.66 GHz. It's kinda hard to tell how small it is by the picture, but its most striking dimension is that it's just 1.5 inches tall. At 6.5 inches wide and 9 inches long, it's scarcely larger than an external DVD burner.

We were thinking this might be well-suited for a home theater, but its 80-gigabyte SATA hard drive is not quite big enough, nor does it have Windows XP Media Center Edition on board, either. You can pack it with 2GB of RAM, though, load whatever OS you want to on it, and maybe the company will put a gigantic hard disk in there for you, too. Anyway, we like its shiny good looks. The company didn't reveal pricing yet.

<![CDATA[Sharp Internet Aquos]]> Sharp takes an Aquos LCD TV and bundles it with a PC, resulting in the LD-37SP1 and PC-AX50M Internet Aquos. These are 32- or 37-inch LCD TVs with a resolution of 1366x768 and 6ms response time, and there's a 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo 2300 processor with a 500GB SATA disk in that vertically-oriented case alongside. Sharp includes a remote control and wireless keyboard, and there you have it—a middle-of-the-road home theater PC.

In the Japanese models shown so far, there's a Hi-Vision HD tuner for Japanese users, and the thing is loaded with XP Home, but it's supposedly "Vista-ready" even though it has a rather lame Intel graphics card. Now if this thing had CableCard compatibility and some sort of HD DVD or Blu-ray disk player inside, you'd have our attention. No pricing was available yet, but it better be cheap, since this system is not exactly state-of-the-art.

<![CDATA[Small But Heavy: Samsung Q35 Notebook]]> Here's the Samsung Asian Babe of the Day holding another of the company's zillions of products, and this one's the Q35 which it calls the world's smallest dual core laptop. It has a 12.1-inch 1280x800 widescreen display and is powered by the Intel Core Duo T2700 processor running at 2.33GHz. The only weird thing about that part of the announcement is that Intel's 2.33GHz T2700 Core Duo chip reportedly won't be available until Q3 of this year. Hmm.

Its 4.1 pound weight seems a little heavy for this type of PC, but it s kinda nice that there's an onboard DVD burner. The standard config includes an 80GB disk and 512MB of RAM, and the company says its six-cell battery will run for seven hours on a charge. Don't expect to see it before July in the UK, and it will probably be selling for around $1700.

<![CDATA[Toshiba Satellite M100 Series Has Intel Core Duo Inside]]> The Toshiba Satellite M100 Series Notebook PC is now available, and it's got pretty good specs, especially considering its lower-than-usual price.

Inside is an Intel Core Duo T2300 chip running at 1.83GHz. Its 14-inch diagonal widescreen display has a native resolution of 1280x768, and it also includes 512 MB of DDR2 SDRAM and a 60GB serial ATA disk. It's not too heavy, either, at 5.2 pounds, and at $1317, its price is right, too.

<![CDATA[Fujitsu Dual-Core Notebook]]>

Another dual-core notebook appears. The Fujitsu N6410 is based on Intel Core Duo mobile technology and with its 17-inch monitor, is probably meant to be a desktop replacement rather than just a totable laptop. Features include an Intel 945 Express chipset and Intel PRO Wireless/3945ABG for 802.11 a/b/g wireless connectivity, ATI Mobility Radeon x1400 graphics controller with 256 megs of HyperMemory and up to 2GB of RAM. And if that's not enough, you can add a second hard drive for up to a 320 GB capacity.
