On a more serious note, I wonder how laptop design will have to change to accommodate such wonderful procs. I would prefer my laptop to remain intact and not burning any parts of my body. Maybe I'm just paranoid.
@My Secret Identity: The memory controller, among other things, has been moved on die. So, while the CPUs have a higher dissipation, there are fewer hot spots on the mobos.
Well, I needed one in time for school, anyways, since the last one died a heat-fry-y death, so I guess I can't feel too bad. I hope you and I will remain friend forever, Lenovo.
Sweetness! Hopefully without raising the price of said MacBook Pros...
And it's perfect timing with Snow Leopard, because Apple needs to substantially increase the performance differential between plain Jane MacBooks and MacBook Pros anyway.
Hmm, wasn't it mr. Jobs who spoke out that "Noes, quadcores eat so much battery, we shalt never put them in our lappytops!" or something along those lines?
I'm just going to wait until they come out with the Quint Core 5 P12 Arbitrary 3 Numbers 9. Seriously, how many damned numbers do we need in one chip name?
Couldnt the same be said for any other laptop manufacturer?
Why single out MacBooks when announcing this news? Why not say "Intel Quad-Core Laptop Processors Inevitably Headed to Notebooks in the Third Quarter"?
