"One of the key parts of the IDN system renders all those fears about our precious dot coms being invaded by shady, foreign characters for naught, because only country-specific domain names, those with two letter designations such as .cn or .ae, are affected by this approval." #nonlatintopleveldomains

And those are technically still Latin characters, even if accents aren't really supported at the time. #nonlatintopleveldomains

Of course, the real trainwreck will come when people want unicode vTLDs. Then we can have paypal.cסּm.

For example
á, é, í, ó, ú and even ý. Similarly, ä, ë, ï, ö, ü and ÿ. And then there's ñ, Ñ, ã, û, etc., etc...
Sorry I got a bit carried away there, but I do love my foreign characters/languages. #nonlatintopleveldomains

Also, Alt+#### (Alt+156=£, Alt+1701=Ñ)
And thirdly, I imagine bit.ly and tinyurl will help. #nonlatintopleveldomains

"Come on, guys! This is just gonna mean more work for us (maybe, in rare circumstances)! Just make everybody else learn English!"
Like everybody on the other side isn't saying some variant of the same. #nonlatintopleveldomains

So, for the gorram Ung jeong jia Ching Jien Soh who are opposed: don't bother me none if you get left behind. Winds of change, they're-a blowing. Can't stand still in these parts, too long, you'll get blown away. We're close to gone out here. We get a chance at peace on this internet, we gotta make good. #nonlatintopleveldomains

In aviation, the official language is English, and even a commuter plane pilot from Munich to Leipzig has to be talking in English. Not because English has such a rich literary mojo (which it does) but because the stray Russian MiG pilot on a munchie run needs to know whether to go north or south to hit the best Bratwurst stand.
The internet should be the same. The only truly international script we have at the moment is Latin. While in 30 or 40 years maybe we'll all need to know Chinese, Latin scripts and English work really well to connect people that don't know each other and don't know each others' native languages together to share info and pron. #nonlatintopleveldomains

No idea what the hell it says there... probably nothing and Arab goes right to left anyway so I got it all messed up.
Oh well I guess it will make things easier for other countries using non Latin characters #nonlatintopleveldomains

On a more serious side I actually think this will create a split in the volume of traffic routed to pages we commonly use, so who knows in a way it might be beneficial for us.
Not sure we will have to wait a month or so to actually see the impact of this decision. #nonlatintopleveldomains

But yeah, the "white man" comment felt a little odd to me as an Asian-American who can't speak too much besides English. #nonlatintopleveldomains
