    @TomXP411: Use the iTunes App on your iPhone. It now has a section for video.


    Apple's servers are so slammed right now, you could have a problem connecting. All the east coasters just got home from work and started their updates.

    @aquajaws: It might just be best to wait for 3.0.1 (which I suspect will be sent out in the next two weeks to address any bricking). Then again, I'm also going to see if I can get a $300 32GB 3G-s. I'm 12 months into my contract.

    @weatherman: Apple did a solid and swapped out my iPhone 3G. The exchange problem was caused by my idiot IT guy. Had to do a restore from the backup anyway so I had nothing to lose by installing GM. And sync every two days at least if only to have a backup.


    Things are hunky-dorey right now.


    And thanks to Matt the iPod Genius at Apple SoHo for delivering first-rate service even late in the workday. Top notch!

    "The iPhone 'VALIS' cannot be updated at this time because the iPhone activation server is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."


    I was impressed at the download speed, but I guess they only remembered to update one part of their infrastructure.

    Downloaded, installed and then it won't connect to iTunes store correctly, stuck on the connect to iTunes screen and phone is useless at this point. Freakin' nice.

    So the winpwn tool says it only supports 2.xx, and people are telling me v.30 is jailbreakable?

    Does anyone know if this will erase the existing data on my iPod Touch? I'm not going back home for a couple weeks (my primary desktop with all my music is there), so I was thinking of upgrading with my laptop...any help?

    @saury316: If you select Update it will not delete your data. If you select Restore, it will.


    If you had previously jailbroken your iPod Touch, you HAVE to use the Restore option.

    I've found that the Wall Street Journal app seems to require about 2-3 launches now before actually working. I updated to 3.0 last week on the GM and the app has been acting up ever since.

    @Anticitizen: If you had previously jailbroken 2.2.1, you have to do a full Restore as opposed to an Update.

    Can't you read? The GM is EXACTLY the same file as the one distributed by Apple, BYTE BY BYTE.


    Why do you want to install the same version TWICE?

    My sister lives over seas and uses the pay-as-you go when she's state side so she can, you know, actually use her iPhone for the time she spends in the US. When she comes home she stays any where from a week to a month at a time, so this is going to really mess her up. It's not like she's going to have a contract in the states when she's only here a cumulative 2 or 3 months out of the year.
