It is zippy! Just feels so much faster. I like the autofocus feature on the camera. If I didn't qualify for a trade-in I wouldn't have gotten it, but I'm glad it worked out the way it did. Can't wait for the jailbreak, though. I miss the 5 row QWERTY and customizable stuff in general.
@Adam Curry: I just called AT&T support and a robot voice activated mine for me in 5 seconds. I had been sitting here for hours waiting for it to happen on its own.
I pre-ordered because I qualified for the trade-in. Still don't wanna stand in line so early, but I'm betting (possibly foolishly) that since I live in NYC that there were will be a reasonable dispersion of all the lines at the AT&T stores.
No I didn't pre order one. I took 5 generations of iPods before I knuckled under and bought one. I expect it will take at least that long, if not longer before I crack out the coin for an iphone
I preordered. I still have my first generation iPhone, and it is SLLLLLOOOOOOW at the best of times. I also ran out of room on it ages ago. 32GB, here I come!
I am not going to be in my home town until the Monday after launch, so I figure the line wont be too bad. They will be moving faster this year than last year.
I renewed my contact and got my iphone 3G less than 2 months ago, so no I did not pre-order, since AT&T wants to charge a loyal 6-year customer $600 for being a month and a half late.
@marm0lade: Not to be snarky, but wasn't all of the hype on Giz (and everywhere else) that a new model would be announced at WWDC enough for you to wait? Not be a martyr, but I waited a year to get the 3G knowing it would be out when 3G service was mature enough to *cough* handle it.
@Mathray: Yes, I knew of all the hype. I read giz everyday. But AT&T/Apple set a precedent last year when they let all the first gen iphone buyers upgrade at the subsidized price. Now they changed the rules, again.
I know, I know. First gen'ers didn't pay the subsidized price. But if I am not mistaken, apple sent out refunds to those users after they lowered the price of the first gen. So they got a double price-break. No love for 3G users, apparently.
I ordered from both Apple and since the Apple order status showed delivery on the 22nd, I placed on order with ATT online. Then I heard about the 7AM line so I called AT&T to cancel the order, but they said it was too late and they would be shipping directly to my home and not to the store (which is why I never had a choice to pick a store). They told me if I went and ordered from the AT&T store it would be delivered there.
@cjudge: I got an e-mail from Apple saying it will be delivered on June 19, no matter what the original e-mail confirmation said. I'm looking forward to receiving it that day here at work.

Now iPhone OS 3.0, that's a good upgrade, and it's free!

Installed the 3.0 OS as Giz demonstrated last week. Works great.

Why wouldn't they run articles about it?
If you don't like the apple stories either click the no apple link or go back to facebook.
