Apple has several patents on the uniquely-shaped dollop of waffle batter I spilled on my kitchen counter back in 1987; legally I have not been able to clean it up since.
i know you guys hate facebook people lol but ive been reading these forms for quite some time now and i hope i dont sound to much like a noob
im still interested in seeing how the mobile me "find my iphone" would work, in the dev SDK for 3.0 there is a option to have it turned on or off, but they are right i dont see the cops doing to much to just down a single iphone
Yeah, these extra precautions are fine and good in theory, but having a sensible backup for theft, like insurance, can work a great deal more. Personally, I can deal with the phone being gone. What I'd prefer is simply having a pass code that the crook can't get passed and it would render all the contacts on it inaccessible.
@Kaiser 'Wants the Clown Back' Machead: Isn't that already implemented? You can tell it if someone tries to enter your password and fails 10 times, it erases the content (I believe...)
@OMG! Ponies!: It damb well should call the police in that case. Do you know how many times the image on my screen has been jittering around because you just had to shake the f-ing internets??
An automatic trigger is not necessary. Simply have the thing send out a signal after being reported stolen by the user. Even THAT method can be abused by someone, but then, since when is any security system 100% fool proof.
Personally, I'd rather just have my contacts on the cloud and be able to restore into a new replacement phone gotten through the insurance I would've purchased for the old one. These uber-protections are sort of pointless.

As in a defiant smirk brings up punk rock? Puff out your cheeks all constipated and you get Yanni?

That seems to work for everyone over at Consumerist..

Nice idea. Let's see if we can get that pesky "real life" problem out of the way, though.

How about I'm simply able to call it, input a pin, and lock it remotely?
