<![CDATA[Steam-Powered iPod Charger Brings Back Memories of Locomotives and Cowboys]]> One of Boing Boing's readers managed to build his own steam-powered iPod charger. When your iPod goes "up in smoke," at least it won't mean an emergency trip to the Genius Bar.

A Lego Technic Motor was attached to a Jensen #75 steam engine to make a crude generator. He then added a 5V regulator circuit and soldered a female USB connection. He also added some circuit protection. It even looks like a cute little rest stop on the Oregon Trail before you had to dump all that leftover buffalo meat you shot into the river (sigh, what a waste.) He should remember though that water, heat and electronics usually don't mix or he might end up taking the pony express to the nearest Apple store. [Boing Boing Gadgets]

<![CDATA[Griffin PowerDock is Two iPods At the Same Time, Man]]> There's nothing better than two iPods or iPhones at the same time, unless you're talking about four iPods at the same time, but let's not get greedy. Griffin's PowerDock lets you bathe in the comfort of knowing two beautiful universal dock ports are being serviced simultaneously, while at the same time holding them upright in a gentle caress that only a dock that's certified as "Works with iPhone" and "Made for iPod" can. You too can get two iPods at the same time for not one million dollars, but $49.99. [Griffin]

<![CDATA[Energizer Energi To Go Updated For New iPods]]> Update: Turns out Energi to Go hasn't been tested to work with the new iPods or the iPhone, as Mobile Whack reported. It only works with the old iPod Nanos and the iPod Videos. Original post below.

The Energi To Go portable battery chargers from Energizer have just been updated to support the latest iPods. The chargers, which are powered by Energizer e2 Lithium AA batteries, can supply the new nano with 46 hours of battery and the new classic with 32 hours. Seeing as the iPod connector is pretty much standard over all the recent iPods, including the iPhone, it should be able to charge pretty much every Apple player you own. [Energizer via Mobile Whack]
