The kit fits into all current Toyotas and Lexuses and connects inside the glove box so you can control the iPod with your head unit (or steering wheel controls). The whole thing costs $300 (more than most iPods), and finally brings Toyota in line with GM, Ford, BMW, Mercedes and Audi in offering iPod integration. Toyota: happily being #1 by letting everyone else innovate beforehand. [Gizmag - Additional car expertise by Ray]

Update: Apparently this is a Toyota UK thing. Sorry for the confusion!

<![CDATA[Outstanding iPod/Car Integration]]> Now here's the way to build an iPod port into a car radio. This guy must be a great do-it-yourselfer, expertly modifying a cassette player so that the iPod can just slide right in like the old eight-track tapes of olden times. Nice touch with that little Apple logo there, too.

When you want to remove the iPod, you just push the eject button and it slides right out. C'mon car radio manufacturers, steal this idea. Or at least, pay this guy some royalties for it. It would be especially good if it accommodated a much-smaller iPod nano.

<![CDATA[Chrysler to Put iPod Connections in 2006 Models]]>

As the first American automaker to announce iPod integration into its 2006 Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge models, the Chrysler Group follows in prestigious BMW footsteps. This just happens to be a little more affordable for the little people. The kit, which is called the iPod Integration Kit, will be just $175 plus installation and can even be retrofit to many 2005 models, according to Chrysler.
