So, I met a friends boyfriend this weekend. She just reached the point in the relationship where she feels the need to get approval of him from all her male friends, so she doesn't feel awkward bringing him around us.
So, she introduces him as Mike, and I hold out my hand to shake. He reaches out, and just at the moment of contact, he pulls his hand back and runs it thru his hair, and says, "syke!"
(oh yes, he really said it)
So, I reached out and lifted the collar of his shirt up, (it was a polo shirt, bonus!), and then looked down, studying his ankles.
After a few seconds, I looked up and said, "I have some safety pins in my truck so you can pin your jeans."
Well, as he was putting his collar back down, he asked, "why would I want to pin my jeans?".
And, I told him, "well, I figured, since you were stuck in 1984 with your lame-ass hand shake, you'd want to mimmic the fashions, too.".
Well, everyone got a good laugh.
Except for Mike.
He didn't think it was funny.
And, after his display of his severely stunted sense of humor, I think he'll be finding himself single soon.
I don't know why this fact took so long to settle in, but almost no one at my university uses PCs. Aside from the odd netbook here or there, all you see are MacBook Pros. Is this just a class thing (i.e., if I went to a nearby state school or back to my hometown,I'd see many more affordable comps) or are college kids buying a shit load more of Macs now?
