Opera Mini 5 Browser Beta Out Now For Android

The latest beta version of Opera Mini for Androids is now out as of today, with a new interface and multi-tabs support thrown in. It's not entirely dissimilar to Opera Mobile 10 on Symbian and WinMo, though. More »

My girlfriend showed me this link article from Cosmo.com, "7 Reasons to Date a Geek." [www.cosmopolitan.com]

It's insulting, superficial bullshit. As much as I support the idea of giving us "geeks" a chance, don't buy into this stereotypical crap.

But seriously, contextuaize it; it's Cosmo we're talking about. Since when have they been given ANY credibility?

On Monday, Colbert had Tom Hanks on the show and they talked about Tom's new show, called Pacific, about WW2 in the Pacific. They also talked about Band of Brothers, another show about WW2 in Europe.

I was wondering if anyone has seen Band of Brothers, and do you recommend it?

@Stndsh0: Highly recommend Band of Brothers, it's only 10 hour long episodes but it feels like a really good (yet long) movie. Do yourself a favor and check it out. I have the Pacific set on my DVR already.

Pioneer's DJM-2000 Shows Why Every Digital Mixer Should Come With Multitouch

Pioneer is known to make digital mixers that leave us drooling and wishing for some DJ skills. First they gave us the CDJ-2000 with its beautiful LCD screen, and now they've given us the DJM-2000, a multitouch screen-having per-frequency-mixing beauty. More »

When Heavy Machines Crash They Make a Terrible Noise

It doesn't matter if the machine you are using is a massive crane or a tiny smartphone: You will always curse in the same way when it crashes. The deafening noise, however, won't be the same.

Fashion as Futurism

It's hard for a lot of us to relate to what goes on in fashion, but Alexander McQueen, recently deceased, strode across some familiar territory in his final works. Shots like this are as sci-fi as they are high-fashion. [BoingBoing]

So for all you photogs out there, I am thinking about getting a new DSLR as my D70 is getting pretty damn long in the tooth. Main reasons I would like to upgrade are: better low light/higher ISO performance, faster/better AF and higher resolution (for larger prints).

I have a few DX lenses and decent lighting setups so I want to stay with Nikon and can't really justify moving to a full-size sensor. The biggest holdup thus far has mostly been that I don't want to buy another underwater housing (they are so damn expensive!), but I am sure I will have to after using a better camera - I just won't want to go back to the D70 for shots while diving.

I shoot a little of everything - general use, portraits, nature/landscape, and some action (snowboarding, wakeboarding), and a fair amount of macro's.

I guess my question is: would going to the D300s really be a night and day difference?

@BadPlasmid: I couldn't find the D70 on the comparison list, so I put in the D60 and D700. If that doesn't help, the website still has a lot more information on it for you.
