Forum moderator Godzilla posted the roadmap, which offers minimal details actual specs. It only says that the touchscreen Bold (9900, codename "Pluto") will maintain the same form factor and keyboard, and that the Storm slider is unconfirmed and targeted towards Europeans. which in addition to the aforementioned phones, also makes reference to HSPA and EV-DO versions of the 8900 (referred to as the 9220 and 8930, respectively), a 3G Kickstart, as well as an EV-DO/HSPA Bold. There was also talk of a refreshed line of Pearls with the new UI. The EV-DO products are due for a release in the first half of 2009, while the potential heavy hitters are slated for a release at the end of 2009. [TmoNews Forums]

<![CDATA[BlackBerry Curve 8900 (Javelin) Video Hands On and Comparison]]>
Following up their review of the pre-release BlackBerry Curve 8900 (aka Javelin), the CrackBerry guys decided to shoot a video of it, including both a feature walkthrough and a comparison with the older Curve and the new Bold. It's helpful, since the Javelin really is a combination of the two. Anyway, have a look—thankfully the CB dudes made the video embeddable, so your clickin' finger can rest awhile. [CrackBerry]

<![CDATA[BlackBerry Curve 8900 Out Next Month on T-Mobile Germany (Everywhere Else Shortly?)]]> Next month will apparently be a busy one for RIM. Besides launching its first ever touchscreen phone, the Storm, they'll be pushing out their all-new Curve 8900 on T-Mobile Germany, says the carrier's site. Formerly known by the codename Javelin, it brings the Bold's design and updated, slicker OS down to a smaller form factor. Unfortunately, it doesn't carry over 3G, but it will definitely be cheaper. Expect it everywhere else shortly thereafter, since it's unlikely to be plagued by the same certification issues that the Bold has been wrestling with. [T-Mobile.De via BGR]

<![CDATA[BlackBerry Javelin Sells for $17,000 on eBay]]> We're anxious to check out the BlackBerry Javelin, don't get us wrong. But even we have our limits. Like, we wouldn't pay $17,100 for the thing. Maybe $16,500. But anything over $16,800? That's just nuts. [eBay via CrackBerry]

<![CDATA[BlackBerry Javelin Live Comparison Shot: More Svelte Than the Curve]]> We've seen some nice renders of the BlackBerry Javelin, but it's hard to get a sense of size from them. So, here's a shot of it in between the Curve (which it'll probably be replacing) and the 8800. While it's just about the same height as the Curve, it's definitely smaller and thinner—which means it's way tinier than the Bold too, since it's one of the larger devices has RIM put out in a while. With Wi-Fi and GPS, Javelin's looking like a solid follow up to the Curve. [Howard Forums via Crackberry]

<![CDATA[Leaked Marketing Photos for BlackBerry Javelin Show 512mhz Processor, Lens Inside LCD?]]> The folks at Crackberry has obtained marketing photos of RIM's new non-3G smartphone, the Blackberry Javelin, which gives us the down low on the details of the phone. Javelin will contain a 512 MHz processor, 256 MB of onboard flash memory plus a hot-swappable microSD slot, a hi-res 460 x 360 HVGA+ display, Wi-Fi with UMA and GPS, and a 3.2 megapixel camera. What briefly piques my interest though is the promise of "integrated lens/LCD technology." Does that mean a second camera hidden behind the display or is it just more ad speak for "the display is pretty"? The release date still seems to be slated for 2009. [Crackberry]

<![CDATA[T-Mobile's 2008 BlackBerry Roadmap Leaked - Javelin and 8220]]> T-Mobile might not have the widest selection of phones, but they do have a certain love for BlackBerry that you can't deny. BlackBerryNews has the leaked roadmap of the BlackBerries T-Mobile is carrying for the rest of the year, which includes new colors for the Pearl, the 8220 and the Javelin. BBNews notes that all these phones will have at least OS 4.5, with the Javelin going all the way up to 4.6.1. No BlackBerry Bold though, unfortunately, as that's an AT&T-only deal for the near future. As a side note, the 8220 might also be called the BlackBerry Pearl 8220, seeing as they love the Pearl branding. [BlackBerry News]

<![CDATA[BlackBerry Javelin Photos Leak Out]]> A few months ago while talking about the rumored BlackBerry Niagara we mentioned the Javelin. And now it looks like a RIM insider has managed to sneak a few photos of a prototype copy of the phone. It's a standard quad-band GSM/EDGE cell, with 480 x 360 LCD, GPS, Wi-Fi, a 3.2 megapixel camera and it'll run the 4.6 OS. It's slated for release "next year" apparently, which sounds like a pretty long way away for something that sounds like a dumbed-down Bold. [BGR via Pocket Lint]

<![CDATA[BlackBerry Niagara Full Specs Leaked (Has 3G After All)]]> It looks like The Boy Genius Report has scored some more information on the BlackBerry Niagara. Apparently it's a 3G (EVDO) device after all, planned for Verizon in May 2009. It's said to feature QWERTY, 480×360 LCD, aGPS, 3.2MP camera and OS 4.7. But to make things more confusing, there's a very similar model called the Javelin, featuring quad-band GSM/EDGE. In other words, the Javelin sounds like the what we thought the Niagara was yesterday, a dumbed-down Blackberry 9000 for cheapskates. Boy, isn't this fun! [BGR]
