when you sell a device open source, it's bloody powerful. there's a difference there. besides, apple is only going to run things in ways that make them the most money.

Right-oh, open source is proven to make complete sense, because Linux totally conquered the desktop market, and the GIMP put Adobe out of business.

i'm not saying to take away apple's initial coding. it's excellent the way it is. but why not allow end users to code in features themselves? we've been bitching for how long about no copy and paste? ok, well if the firmware was open source, some code monkeys could have fixed this already (i think there's actually a fix available on cydia).
just as linux isn't a replacement for mac or windows, but a good amount of open source programs are very useful on every platform.
hopefully that made it a little clearer.
