He first told me about this book about two years ago over a crappy sandwich and soda—it was my treat, I believe—and detailed how this impressive timepiece was passed down over several generations. Apparently six publishing houses had much more interest in this book than I did, since they paid THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR IT. I believe you owe me a lunch, Bigglesby. [Observer]

<![CDATA[A Geek's Guide to Marathon Training]]> IMG_6561.jpgMarathon season is in session—the Boston Marathon recently finished up with many more to come, and for those aspiring marathoners there are a lot of gadgets out there that won't make your run less painful, but definitely make it more interesting. John Biggs of CrunchGear fame is running the 26 mile San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon (which is ironic because Biggs is the opposite of rock 'n' roll) this summer and finally unveiled to the masses what gadgets and toys he is using to train for this event. The usual includes an iPod with the Nike+ kit, but the unusual is a unique Casio watch and a GPS tracking unit. Hit the link to see all of his goods and be sure to cheer him on this June if you are in the San Diego area.

P.S. Biggs, your iPod looks disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourself.

<![CDATA[John Biggs Says Goodbye]]> The time has come for me to leave Gizmodo. I've had a great run and have had too much fun to be legal and I want to thank you all for the input, flames, and link love. I'll be running around the Interwebs, and should be available at john at big wide logic dot com or on AIM at johnbiggsny if you need to get in touch with me. You're in excellent hands with the Gizmodo team, Charlie, Travis, Nicholas, and Jason, and want to thank you again for taking time to make Gizmodo—and my meanderings—a part of your day.
