<![CDATA[Dvorak Uses Mac, Likes it, Recommends it to Friends]]> John C. Dvorak, the man Mac users love to hate, has used a Mac. His verdict? He actually likes it quite a bit. After using the iMac for a project for some unnamed company, he found that they're very quiet, "slicker" than PCs, and has a feeling of being faster and more solid than Windows. Shock horror!

He also says he's going to recommend the Mac platform to friends and family when they ask for computer advice in order to not have to tech support them when they don't keep their computers clean of viruses and spyware—something we're intimately familiar with ourselves. In the end, he says he won't switch to a Mac (understandable), but says the differences between Macs and PCs are very minor, save for usability. Sounds pretty level headed to me. [PCMag]

<![CDATA[Man in Line for iPhone Does it for African Kids' Charity]]>
Nope, these olive-green Converse standing outside an Apple store in NYC don't belong to John Dvorak. They belong to a guy called Johnny Vulkan who has flown over from London and is currently in pole position to grab the first iPhone from the Soho branch on Friday. And it's all for a good cause...

Keep A Child Alive, a charity that campaigns to bring anti-retroviral drugs to African kids with AIDS will get the proceeds from the sale of the iPhone, once Mr Vulkan has flogged it on eBay. So if you see him, shake that man's hand and tell him he's Top Banana.

And if you want to donate to Keep A Child Alive, then you can do so here. Oh, and Steve, if you're reading this, then why don't you be a love and match the final eBay total?

<![CDATA[Dvorak Compares iPhone to Hitler]]> There's no question that our buddy Dvorak hates the iPhone, but comparing it to Hitler? I knew Hitler. Hitler was a friend of mine. The iPhone is no Hitler.

Hitler comparisons aside, John's basing at least part of his hatred on the iPhone on his two buddies who talk about the iPhone nonstop (not me, unfortunately). But most of his diatribe is directed toward the media, who are covering the crap out of the iPhone because 1) there's no other news, and 2) the iPhone is the news. That, and because he wants more pageviews.

Shut Up About the iPhone, Already! [PCMag]
