John Mayer Giving Tech Support

John Mayer Does Apple Tech Support for His Dad, Fails Miserably

In a twist of destiny, John Mayer—the guy who writes to Apple Support saying "Hey guys, John Mayer here" and actually gets replies back—had to turn into tech support guy after his dad called saying "Hey, John Mayer's dad here." The musician tried to guide his father through Mac OS X in order to find his Entourage icon with no success, getting more and more frustrated with every turn of the conversation. We were able to grab the hilarious 100% unedited clip from TMZ before it disappeared. More »

John Mayer Cheats On Apple With a Sony Vaio

Just when we thought John Mayer was happy with his MacBook Air, he goes and cheats on Apple with a Sony Vaio. Was it the fact that he had to submit a bug report? Was it the fact that everyone's submitting bug reports with his name in it? Or how about because he's on the Sony BMG label? Who knows! It's not the first time he's cheated on Apple, and we're sure as shit it's not going to be his last. [As seen in the latest issue of Wired Mag]

BlackBerry Tips From John Mayer

Hey guys. John Mayer here. You might have noticed I didn't sing at the iPhone 3G launch. That probably disappointed you, since people like to hear the songs that I write, which is why I'm going on tour. So you can hear my songs. BlackBerry is sponsoring it, since I really like the Bold. Because when I'm not calling two people at once or writing songs for you to hear, I write emails. Sometimes they're to myself with song ideas, for my songs. So, I have some BlackBerry tips for you. John Mayer Pioneers the DoubleDouche (Two Bluetooth Headsets at Once)

Hi guys. John Mayer here. When I'm not busy submitting Apple Problem Reports and banging two supermodels at once, I write songs. I know, you probably haven't heard them lately except at Apple events, but don't you know how I get those gigs? That's right, I call people. I call people two at a time with a technique I pioneered called the DoubleDouche. I'm busy, people. Two phones, two ears, two headsets. Believe it.

John Mayer Gets Apple Reply after Bug Report Jibba-Jabba

It looks like writing "John Mayer here" really works to get Apple's attention when you report a problem. According to Steve Jobs' fab guitarist, they got back to him directly only four days after he sent the bug report ramblings:

Steve Jobs' Music Poster Boy Reports iTunes Problem, Wonders If Apple Spies Him

John Mayer is the guitarist who sometimes closes Apple events with a small gig (he comes right after you turn off the Quicktime broadcast to check the Apple Store), and Steve Jobs' favorite music poster boy this side of Bob Dylan. Last week, Mayer contacted Apple about a problem with iTunes using the bug reporting tool which appears after a crash. Having sent my own share of bug reports, from neutral to humorous to sarcastic to plain mad-I'm-going-to-kill-you-all-with-a-spoon, I find his diatribe rather charming and candid:

100 Million iPods—in Sony's Face

It's official. Apple has sold 100 million iPods. According to the press release, this isn't just some round number. Apparently, 100 million units sold in five and a half years makes the iPod "the fastest selling music player in history." As if that wasn't enough of a potshot at Sony, makers of the now-forgotten Walkman, the press release goes on to quote Sony recording artist John Mayer, who sings the praises of the little white devil.
