But it might as well. Cable news, everybody! Consistently worthless.

<![CDATA[Toobin Caught Checking Facebook on CNN During Debate]]>

During the last debate, we caught CNN analyst Jeffrey Toobin watching a live feed of playoff baseball while on the air on his laptop. Tonight's debate? Facebook. Either he's messing with us (are you messing with us, Toobs?), or he's really good at multitasking and really bad at being discreet. Either way, that's some fine reporting. Also: I just added him as friend on Facebook. Approve my friend request, Toobs! Update: We're officially Facebook friends, and he explained himself via a Facebook message:

"I am clearly a recidivist in this area. I figure as long as I stay away from porn, I can keep my job."

I like this guy. [David Cho]

<![CDATA[KTLA 'Reporter' Makes Fun of iPhone Line-Sitters, Gets Called a Jackass on Live TV]]> KTLA Reporter Eric Spillman went down to the local iPhone line on Friday to cover it for his station. His version of coverage consisted of standing next to the line and asking hard hitting questions such as "Have any of these people ever seen a naked woman before?" not to anyone in particular, but to the camera. Not that I'm against making fun of geeks, but such an unoriginal and unfunny approach just set him up to be called out. When he finally did approach someone in line, the whole thing got a little more awkward. Kudos to the guy in line for making Spillman look even more stupid. [Eric Appel]

<![CDATA[ExtremeTech Hiring Full-Time Reporter]]> Just a quick heads-up: ExtremeTech—one of the only Ziff Davis publications we can not only read, but enjoy—is hiring a full-time reporter for their Silicon Valley offices. Considerable experience, we're sure, is necessary.

When ExtremeTech launched a few years ago we were dubious—it seemed a clear attempt by a (relative) publishing giant to co-opt the space pioneered by such sites as Ars Technica and HardOCP. And, you know, it sort of was—it just happened that ExtremeTech provides some of the best PC and home theater-related testing and reviews around.

If you're a tech journalist looking to work with some of the industry's most knowledgeable (and least bullshit-prone) writers like Jason Cross and Loyd Case, polish up that CV and pass it along.

Oh, yeah, you'd probably have to write for PC Magazine, too. Consider that an excuse to get close enough to Dvorak to slip in the crys-knife.
