So I just checked out a map of the area, and realized you guys are right around the corner from Katz's Deli. Touristy part aside, that is hands down the best deli in the Western World. Nate N Al's in Beverly Hills is #2.

Now I wish I had booked time off and a flight from LAX to JFK. Giant TVs and a pastrami and Dr. Brown's Black Cherry Soda? That's like Christmas Morning. But for Jews. So, Purim Morning. Or Erev Yom Kippur.

To everyone who thinks you have to have some serious mental illness to consider suicide. No, you dont. Life sometimes puts "normal" people in situations to which we see no end or have no hope that we can resolve it. God willing, you get past that stage in your life, but sometimes for just a second you forget those you would leave behind and make a foolish mistake that robs you from your loved ones forever. I am honest enough to admit I have thought of it a time or two, and hope I never go there again, but if I do I hope I have the strength to not do it. I hope.

I really do feel sorry for his family. That being said, is he eligible for a Darwin Award? The only good thing about this story is that he didn't have any children that would have to deal with him taking the cowardly and selfish way out. His friends and family don't deserve this.

It's interesting how many posters are assuming this boy wanted to be saved. It was his choice to take his own life, why can you not respect that? It might not be politically correct, or even legal, but it was in the end his choice. He wasn't forcing anyone to watch, it was all voluntary. I wonder how many here that are saying what an awful and tragic thing this is have actually googled to find pics or video footage of it. He in no way harmed anyone else. Perhaps we need to respect that this is the release he wanted most in life (or from life) and he made his decision and went through with it the best way he knew how.

This was a cry for help. He took the pills and then got in front of the camera so he wouldn't be alone in his final hours/minutes. If he truly wanted to end his life he would have done it off camera, without anyone around, so as to not run the risk of someone intervening and stopping him. The fact that he did in this manner and that he apparently made prior unsuccessful attempts to kill himself shows he wanted help.

Of course it's all moot since none of us can really know what was going through this dudes head and what kind of hell he was in...

I'm the kind of person that is there for my friends regardless of time, I tell all my friends even if it's 3-4AM and they need someone to talk that they can always call and I'll never turn them away. I am very goal oriented, I know what I want to do with my life and I'm working towards it.

Just a note to anyone who is sinking. Please reach out to someone. You are not alone. You are valuable as a person and it only takes one second of feeling overwhelmed to make a mistake that impacts many people.
