I just have this vision of someone trapped outside in their skivies because the other half saw the door unlocked mid-day, locked it and changed the code remotely.
oh man I have to get this, I got a crazy problem of having to always go back to check I locked the door no matter how far away i am once that thought gets in my head.
Kwicket's products are awesome! I have a deadbolt with a keypad on it and when I had kids at home it was so nice not worrying that they would lose keys. This looks great and I bet it's not horribly expensive because Kwikset's stuff is usually pretty reasonable, hence why I bought it.
Correction... they are part of Kwikset's Home Connect system, and are compatible with Control4's home automation system. I have no idea what Connect4 is...but Control4 integration (with ZigBee) is the news.
@jeffk: Hello???? It has a keypad. Does being in your underwear force you to forget the code? Here in Korea we have these on most doors and they lock automatically when closed.
OK,
1. batteries.
2. REMOTE access with computer, to WIRELESS connection?? and the power fails?
3. Key lock?? If this is good tech you shouldnt need it.
4. transformer?? with battery backup?? mabe.
Iatacs...Just give me a LOW power LED that shows its LOCKED would be cool.
I dont want a 6 number keypad... MAKE it fully wireless.. Make my BT sender work on it..
But EVEN THAT, means someone can SIT OUTSIDE, and sample my signals and play back signals(1000 at a time) and find my CODE.
3 dead bolts and 3 GOOD locks, and you will only delay ANY determined thief.
Use a silent alarm and Internal Video cameras. CHEAP and simple.
