”Lacie d2 External Blu-ray Drive Now Burns at 4x Speeds
Lacie has updated its external d2 Blu-ray burner to write at 4x speeds, twice as fast as its predecessor. The BD drive supports 25 or 50 GB BD-R and BD-RE discs, as well as multiple DVD and CD formats. In addition, the aluminum alloy case has been redesigned by Neil Poulton, giving it a more simple and appealing look. The d2 has both Firewire 400 and USB 2.0 connections, and is available now for as low as $650. [Lacie via Gizmag]LaCie Rugged Portable Hard Drive Now Squeezes in 500GB
LaCie's Rugged line of portable hard drives isn't the first to cram 500GB into your pocket, but they're betting it's the most protected 500GB you'll ever hold, with a shock-resistant (and ugly) orange rubber bumper padding the internal shock protection. Buffalo's 500GB option is sleeker and has thwack-thwarting tech of its own, but the brickier Rugged probably has more brick-like durability, and it's $30 cheaper, so assess your needs accordingly. [LaCie]LaCie 1TB Desktop Hard Drive: I...Can't...Look...Away
So a 1TB external drive is nothing new, but it is hard to deny that this thing is pretty...real pretty. LaCie has been getting heavy into the aluminum casings recently, which may play a factor in cooling, but those devices definitely did not bring this kind of cool stealth technology vibe that is so intoxicating. Users can also expect 7200rpm spindle speeds and USB 2.0. At the moment, there is no price or release date information available. [LaCie via Gizmos.es]
LaCie's Little Disk: Littlest 40GB Drives
Samsung's A1 drives, the 1.3-inch platter models that fit 30-40GB inside, are being shoved into these little LaCie portables, the new Little Disk and in the updated USB Key Max. With this kind of bit density and 2MB buffers, the drives should be somewhat quick despite the 3600rpm spindle speed, and 40GB is no joke, especially in these shock-resistant drives that look imminently pocketable. LaCie Adds Neil Poulton-Designed External HD To Classy Drive Roster
LaCie's no stranger to getting designers to fashion up external hard drive designs, what with Sam Hecht, Ora-Ito, Karim Rashid, GmbH and the LEGO guy (actually also Ora-Ito) lending their name to designs. This latest one by Neil Poulton looks like the 2001 monolith sans naked monkeys, but with an eerie blue ambient light on the front emanated by an LED on the bottom. You'd normally have to pay some kind of huge price premium for designs, but LaCie's $149 for 500GB seems pretty reasonable. Ships January. [LaCie via PC World]
LaCie Ethernet Disk Mini Streams Media, Acts As iTunes Music Server
Not only is this LaCie Ethernet Disk Mini capable of streaming fast video over its Gigabit Ethernet to a UPnP media player, it's got file backup, file synchronization, and iTunes server capabilities. It's an update to the Ethernet Disk Mini from two years ago, but offers 500GB of storage plus all those networking functions for a price of only $199. We have to get our hands on one to see what its performance is, but from the spec sheet this looks pretty fantastic. [LaCie]
LaCie Silverscreen Media Center Plays Back DivX In 1080i
LaCie's revived their old Silverscreen brand to bring you a 1080i, 500GB capacity media player that handles DivX files. It plus directly into your TV via component, and can even support 5.1 Dolby Digital via its optical out. MP3 audio files and JPG picture viewing is also included, but unfortunately the Silverscreen still doesn't include video recording, just playback. A DVR this ain't. [Fosfor]
LaCie Taps Designer Sam Hecht For New Portable Hard Drives, DVD Burners
LaCie new line of portable drives are notable for one reason—they were designed by Sam Hecht. The famed industrial designer (Whirlpool, Epson) gave the hard drives, ranging from 30-250 GB, a minimal glossy look, with an end cap that hides the ports and retractable USB cable. The 8X DVD burner sports a similar look and comes with LightScribe technology. LaCie's new offerings are available now starting at $90 for the hard drives and $100 for the DVD burner. LaCie Unveils 2big Disks at 2TB Each
Three more big disks from LaCie today, one called the 2big Dual, one called the 2big Triple and the last the 2big Network. They all look pretty much identical except for their connectivity ports on the back, since the 2big Triple has USB 2.0, Firewire 400 and Firewire 800, the 2big Dual has eSATA and USB2.0, while the 2big Network has Gigabit Ethernet. All three are priced exactly the same, with 1TB going for $409, 1.5TB for $619, and 2TB for $939. Get your hands on a big disk come October. 2TB may sound like too much space for you, but you're not taking pictures of every stool sample in RAW mode for your doctor so he can figure out why your knee hurts. LaCie Golden Disk Looks Like Gold, Feels Like a Disk
The LaCie Golden Disk is made for those of you who went to Ikea, looked around, and decided to decorate your home with a more ancient Aztec motif instead. It holds 500GB for a price of $189, which isn't all too bad when you consider that it's designed by Ora-Ito, a guy who enjoys Legos and tentacular porn. Best of all, the top is melted like, we don't know, molten gold, so you can't actually stack multiple Golden Disks on top of each other to form a golden pyramid. [Lacie]
LaCie Big Disk Extreme+ Hits 2TB
The Lacie Bigger Disk Extreme+ is here, with Firewire 400/800 and USB 2.0 interfaces. It comes in RAID/0 config. And in 1TB, 1.5TB, and 2.0TB sizes at $350, $600 and $850, respectively, making the 2TB a money-saving proposition when you think about it in bytes/dollar. Right? Wait...No. The 2TB version will be here in August, but honestly, we'd be more pleased with the 2TB gigabit-Ethernet Lacie Big Disk we told you about in May. [Lacie via Macworld]

LaCie Bumps Ethernet Big Disk to King Kong-like 2TB
LaCie's giving its Ethernet Big Disk a major upgrade today, doubling its stomach size from 1TB to 2TB. The drive will include 2 USB ports, Gigabit Ethernet, and support for Windows, Macs, and Linux. You'll even be able to add extra storage via one of the USB ports (should you be that hungry for storage space). I like that the drive is smaller than some of your other options, but price-wise you can expect to pay around the same as some of its competition ($1,099). The Big Disk is available now for pre-order, so get your credit card ready. More »

Dealzmodo: 1TB External Lacie HDD for $290
Yesterday I wrote about a 1TB external drive that looks like a Mac Pro. It costs $600, which is pretty steep, but hey, it's 1TB and styled like your overpriced computer. Well, starting today you can pre-order Lacie's 1TB external drive from J&R. The price? $290. It doesn't look like your fancy Mac tower, but, well, who cares?

LaCie's 26-inch LCD Promises Dead-on Color Accuracy
Those of you lucky enough to have one of these sitting by your desk will wanna pair it with LaCie's new 526 LCD. It offers a 95% Adobe RGB gamut, which in English means the colors you see on the screen are the colors you'll get when you print something. That's especially important if you're a digital photographer, 'cause it'll match what you capture on camera with what you see on screen, and later print on paper. More »
