    I think a study was done recently where people had to choose between starbucks, mcdonalds, dunkin donuts and maybe one other...mcdonalds and dunkin donuts scored very well, and were like 1/3 of the cost.

    @Saboth: I was just going to come comment on that (then I figured I'd just reply to yours).

    My father points that out to me all the time.

    I call bullshit.

    A. If I want a coffee I get one choice at McDonald's and it sucks (at least IMO). At least at Starbucks I can get a dark roast (before noon). Maybe the regular roast appeals to more people but that tastes watered down to me where ever I get it from so I don't drink it. I will say that is the norm for most people though so for a "regular" roast of coffee it might be pretty good.

    B. Their specialty coffees are wildly inconsistent. 'Bout all I will get there is an iced coffee and its never tasted the same. Sometimes too much syrup, sometimes too much ice, sometimes not enough of anything.

    C. What is this cost that people always point out for starbucks coffee (just coffee now, not specialty drinks). Its like a $1.35. McD's is about the same. Don't see the cost benefit.

    Can't really comment on DD. Didn't have one where I was before. Now I've got them but I haven't hit one up for coffee recently (plus I think they do the same one roast only thing afternoon).
