Sadly, I had a use for #5 this weekend.

Road trip + pre gaming + missing the rest area = pissing in a gatorade bottle. #lazygadgets

No, but I'd say it gave me too easy an outlet for my introvert tendencies. Not the gadgets' fault, but I've wasted a lot of time with headphones on, looking into various little screens when I could have been interacting with the world around me - even at parties! *head smack*

Even having said this, I was never a heavy texter on my phone - I think the people who can't go 5 min without sending an SMS are seriously overabsorbed in their niches.

It's nice to have various services and abilities on the go, and I still love my gadgets, but there's something to be said for using them in moderation and paying the lion's share of your attention to the world around you!

I was going to click on the poll, but then I would have had to read all the words, and that was just too much work. I didn't type this BTW. I had my helper monkey, Mojo, type it. OK, snack time.

He doesn't know I am typing this. Pray for Mojo and call the police!!

I disagree with both "lazy" and "morons". There is little question that people are, on average, getting smarter. Sure, there are morons that you hear about now and then, but for the most part we are incrementally more knowledgeable about the world than our parents, who were incrementally more knowledgeable than their parents, etc...

"Lazy" is more subjective. Sure, most of us do not toil in the fields any more, but that does not mean that we do not work equally hard. I spend over 60 hours a week at work and spend most of the weekend studying. We do not work less - the nature of work has changed, from planting crops to writing computer programs and preparing spreadsheets.

In this day and age of value menus that contain more saturated fat than actual nutrients, it is a safe bet that gadgets are a symptom of our never-ending quest to do nothing but sit in front of a TV and grow as wide as humanly possible. Simply put, gadgets have not made us lazy - we would have done that to ourselves with or without the iPhone.
