I am thinking that the skateboard market and the Lazy Susan market demographics are not the same. Not very many Grandmothers want a tribute to Tony Hawk on their table.

the friction between the glass and the wheels should keep it centered.

@lladnar: Not unless you provide equal force on all sides when rotating it. As soon as you start to spin it, you are pushing from one side only, which will cause it to drift.

    $1800?

There's maybe $120 worth of materials in that thing, and that's accounting for the glass costing $90.

They could at least etch/router the glass to add grooves for the wheels to "ride" in.

$1800? It's not like you have to put some Independents on there. Just go to Target and buy the whatever Hannah Montana skateboard they have and strip it. And then you can use something other than that ugly wood stand.

you sound like you know skateboarding...

then you should know how poor those cheap skateboards perform, you could stand on one on a steep incline and still not move as everything is stuff.

@cptncraig: Of just new bearings. Unless they seal the wheels now. Anyone know if you can still change out the bearings?

@badhatharry is just a small town girl livin' in a lonely wo...: If you get a hanna montana or Nash board then you will likely not be able to replace the bearings. If you want your table to be really slick and nice then you will want some ok trucks and some really nice bearings (preferably German) so it rotates effortlessly and runs in silent mode.

@Puffs: Nash is still around? They were a joke when I used to skate ('80s).

I do remember German bearings being superior, and I also remember paying something like a hundred dollars to replace the ones in my Rollerblades. Either way, none of this equals paying $1800 for this thing.

uhhh....whats keeps the glass from eventually uncentering and become lopsided enough for someone to lean onto it and flip or crack the glass?
