LED flash, anyone?

Part of the "Lifestyle" range of phones HTC is cooking up, the Legend will contain a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor, which was revealed earlier this year for budget (sub-$150) smartphones. It'll be fast, but it's no Snapdragon, with the CPU clocking in at 600MHz. Internal memory is listed at 512MB with 256MB RAM, and the battery is a 1300 mAh floozy—again, nothing special, with the Hero having a 1500 mAh battery.

A 3.2-inch HVGA AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 5.0-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash (a one-up on the Hero, there), microSD slot, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, G-sensor, digital compass, 3.5mm headphone jack and microUSB port round the Legend off nicely, but it's only the addition of an optical trackpad and LED flash which are the main differences between this and the Hero. Supposedly it'll launch in March according to Ai.rs, and the leaked roadmap of launches. I've still got one more question for HTC—will the bottom of the chin actually be red or green? [Ai.rs]

<![CDATA[Leaked Motorola Sholes Returns, With a Disturbing Lump in Its Side]]> Looking awfully similar to a recent leak, the Chinese-for-now Sholes has leaked yet again. It mostly looks like the same device—except now we can see it's got some kind of upsetting tumor on its right side.

The phone (or tablet, as it's sometimes called for some reason), similar to the Droid but lacking a keyboard, is said to have a 3.7-inch screen, FM radio, and HDMI port (though we can't see that in any of the pictures), running Android 2.1. Android 2.1, by the way, doesn't look different from Android 2.0 in the pictures, though apparently it's faster and more stable. It's also clearly shown here as having a 5MP camera, like the Droid, and not the rumored 8MP camera.

It's also now clear that it's got some sort of unfortunate medical condition on its lower right side that results in a weird, asymmetrical but not ergonomic lump. What's it for? A radio antenna for OTA TV? The HDMI port? Who knows, but I hope it sees a doctor before coming Stateside, if it's headed our way. [Androidin via Engadget]

<![CDATA[LEAK: The Google Phone "Is a Certainty"]]> According to a trusted source who's seen it with their own eyes, the Google Phone "is a certainty."

And by "Google Phone" we don't simply mean another Android handset. We're talking about Google-branded hardware running a version of Android we haven't yet seen.

Over the next few weeks, Google Phones (most probably in early, prototype form) will flood the Mountain View campus. They'll don large LCDs while running a new version of Android—either Flan or the version of Android beyond it—which our source spotted running on Google's handset as well as a laptop. (Whatever the software was, it most certainly wasn't Chrome OS, we were assured.)

But maybe the most intriguing bit is what someone said to our source offhandedly, that the current Android, the we all know and love, is not the "real" Android. So what makes for a "real" version of Android?

Our best guess is an Android OS with Google Voice at its heart.

<![CDATA[Super Cheap, Super Small Lenovo X100E Leaks]]> Lenovo's new X100E ultrathin laptop just leaked out, and it's looking pretty sweet: 11.6-inch screen, redesigned chiclet keyboard, a supposed starting price of less than $500, and colors. Colors, you guys. On a ThinkPad.

The X100E looks to be a substantial physical redesign from Lenovo, who typically falls so thoroughly on the function side of the form vs. function debate that they may not even be aware there is another side. The new chiclet (or "island") keyboard looks great, much less busy than previous ThinkPad layouts, and the overall design seems to have calmed down significantly. Hell, it'll even be available in colors. Colors! From Lenovo! (Looks like red, white and black are the extent of the palette, but still).

It should be packing a low-power AMD Athon "Neo" processor, 4GB of memory, up to 500GB of hard drive storage, and boast a 5.1-hour battery life while weighing less than 3 pounds. But the most enticing part has to be the price: Previous ThinkPads have been extremely pricey, often even more than equivalent Macs, yet the X100E is rumored to come in at $500 to start. No info quite yet on a release date, but we'll keep you updated. [Ubergizmo]

<![CDATA[Of Course, Microsoft Denies Those Project Natal Pricing 'Rumors']]> I trust a mole more than a company spokesperson any day, but Microsoft has officially denied the Project Natal "impulse buy" pricing with 14 games by offering a simple "[the alleged leaks] weren't accurate, they were rumors." <![CDATA[Which PSPgo Color Do You Prefer?]]> That's the question Sony posed in one of their infamous, leak-laden surveys on the device, according to Destructoid.

Note that Piano Black and Pearl White have both already been released, but there are a slew of others that the company is at least considering putting on shelves. I'm remiss that there's no Fireball Orange option. That Bright Yellow just isn't getting it done for me. [Destructoid via Kotaku]

<![CDATA[LEAK: Project Natal Shipping in November 2010 with 14 Games for Under $80?]]> That's a lot of information to swallow in the headline, but a leakster to MCV (a respected UK gaming pub) may have outed Project Natal launch plans early.

The information is apparently the result of behind-closed-door meetings in the UK between Microsoft and third party developers. Microsoft will be manufacturing 5 million Natals for a worldwide launch in November 2010 (some of those standalone, some of those in 360 bundles), and price is a major concern for the company. Those who left meetings were under the impression that Natal alone will run anywhere from $50-$80 with 14 games included—"impulse buy" territory.

I've always expected that Natal would launch inexpensively, closer to new Wii hardware and PS webcams than an actual new console. But $50 would be a very tempting sweet spot, indeed. [MCV via Kotaku]

<![CDATA[Specs Leak For Dell's Super Skinny Adamo XPS]]> More information has trickled out about the Dell's Adamo XPS, the notebook with an eating disorder which we showed you video of yesterday.

The highly abnormal machine offers some decidedly normal specs: though nothing is official just yet, the XPS will reportedly sport either 1.4 and 1.9 GHz dual-core Intel processors, 128 or 180 GB SSD, integrated X4500MHD graphics, and 4GB of DDR3 RAM, sitting under a 13.4 inch WXGA LED-backlit screen.

Batteries are slated as 20Wh or 40Wh for 2 and a half or 4 hours of life respectively, but owners will need to keep an eye on their juice, as the unique heat-sensitive opening mechanism won't work when the Adamo's batteries run out. [Engadget]

<![CDATA[Motorola Droid Unexpectedly Appears on Motorola's Site Ahead of Schedule]]> Motorola is set to officially announce the Droid for Verizon on October 28th, but it popped up on Moto's official site with full specs and more detail than we've seen so far.

This leak (or whatever it is) confirms a lot of things we already knew: The Droid will be packing Android 2.0 (Eclair), has a 3.7-inch touchscreen, 5MP camera (with 4x zoom and autofocus), blah blah blah. It also will have a "Notification Panel," which could be a light like the alert light BlackBerrys have had for years (that's not a dig, it's an extremely useful feature), a 1400mAh battery (rated at 385 minutes usage, 270 hours standby), pretty extensive audio and video codec support, a video camera, microUSB port, and 3.5mm headphone jack. It's also listed as having the WebKit HTML 5 browser with Flash 10 support, though the Flash is noted to be arriving sometime in 2010. Plus, it comes with a 16GB microSDHC card for media or whatever.

This handset is shaping up to be a mighty impressive piece of hardware. Check back with us in the coming days for more info as we get it. [Boy Genius Report]

<![CDATA[Windows Mobile 7 Screenshots Leak: Where's the Start Button?]]> PocketNow got ahold of some screenshots apparently culled from WinMo 7, since they look a little flashy and aesthetically different from WinMo 6.5—and that's definitely a good thing.

The shots are branded Windows 6.5.1, but as PocketNow says, we know what 6.5.1 looks like and it definitely doesn't share the modern, finger-sized aesthetic of these shots. The screenshots cover basics like the call screen, contacts list, mail, and on-screen keyboard, and all in all it looks substantially more modern (read: Similar to Android, iPhone, WebOS) than WinMo ever has before. Interestingly, the trademark Windows Start button appears to be a no-show: Is this a conscious choice to move away from the WinMo of the past? [PocketNow]

The key features:

• Highly compact DSLR body design allows for 1 handed operation and comfort when travelling.
• Powerful automatic modes, including PENTAX Auto Picture and scene modes, ensure the perfect shot in any situation, while helping new photographers learn DSLR photography.
• Creative processing and filter modes produce high quality finished images, while offering the ability to explore artistic freedom through unique special effects.
• True HDR image capture blends 3 bracketed images into a single picture with outstanding shadow, highlight, and midrange detail.
• Fast 4.7 FPS capture speed and 1/6000 second maximum shutter speeds are possible with the PENTAX PRIME II image processing engine.
• Responsive 11 point wide angle SAFOX VIII autofocus system focuses quickly and accurately, and can easily track moving subjects.
• Capture up to 1900 shots with universally available, easy-to-find AA lithium batteries (also compatible with AA NiMH rechargeable and alkaline batteries).
• Expanded ISO range covers sensitivities from 100-12800 for extreme low light photography.

It looks pretty nice, if all this is true (and it certainly looks realistic), but we'll have to wait until tomorrow to get confirmation and most importantly, price. [Photorumors via Engadget]

<![CDATA[Motorola Cliq to See October Release, Maybe]]> Boy Genius Report has a source claiming Motorola's Android savior, the Cliq, will be coming to T-Mobile in mid-October. Interestingly, the only pictorial proof he has is a roadmap slide showing a November release.

BGR has a good track record with carrier leaks, and after seeing the Cliq in person I can confirm that it seemed like a finished product—Moto reps were using it to communicate with each other and the phone wasn't buggy at all. So it's definitely possible that Moto and T-Mobile are busting ass to get the Cliq out the door before November. We'll keep you updated if we hear anything else, since the story seems to be evolving. <![CDATA[iPod Touch 3G and Nano 5G Cases Outed On Best Buy's Website]]> Oh for god's sake tomorrow, just happen already. As if prior case leaks and Apple's heavy-handed messaging weren't enough, Best Buy's gone and listed a batch of new Belkin cases for the 3rd-gen iPod Touch and 5th-gen Nano.

Unfortunately there aren't any pictures, but we can surmise two things from this. First, there will almost definitely be new iPods of both varieties tomorrow. This is possibly the worst-kept secret, ever.

Second, these iPods will be sufficiently different from prior models such that they require different cases. I mean, accessory makers will take any excuse to make a new line of accessories, but neither the Nano or the Touch are due for any massive structural changes, so the most obvious reason for new shells would be holes for a camera and mic. At any rate, we'll be at the event tomorrow—I just hope there's something left to announce by then. [Best Buy via Pocket Lint]

<![CDATA[Leica M9 Appears for Four Blurry Seconds in Promo Video]]> Hardcore photo geeks know that Leica's M9 is supposedly due out on 09/09/09 (exactly one 9 less cool than the Sega Dreamcast's release). Now the company's second digital offering has been captured in several blurry shots from a promo.

Live Webcast on 9/9/2009 - The next Generation of Leica Cameras from leica camera on Vimeo.

What do these shots show us? Well, nothing. The camera's rumored 18MP full-frame sensor can't be confirmed, and we can't even get a full shot of the body. Luckily the launch isn't far off, and we'll be sure to fill in the gaps once Leica officially announces the camera. [Pocket Lint]

<![CDATA[Canon EOS 7D Specs Leak: More Megapixels!]]> We saw the poster and possible lenses for Canon's EOS 7D yesterday, and now it looks like the floodgates are open. A photography forum has most of the details you'll need, except the exact price and release date.

It'll have a 18MP sensor, dual DIGIC 4 processors, ISO from 100 to 6400 (and some crazy 12800 mode), a 3-inch LCD in addition to the 100% coverage viewfinder and of course HD video capabilities like its siblings. It looks like it'll compete most directly with the king of prosumer DSLRs, the Nikon D300s. Past rumors have suggested it'll cost around $2700, but we'll wait and see: We wouldn't be surprised if it was actually a lot less. [Engadget]

<![CDATA[Amazon Germany Lists 250GB Xbox 360 Elite Package]]> Amazon, who's previously listed/leaked the PS3 Slim before its announcement, has listed a mysterious 250GB Xbox 360 Elite on their German site, packaged with Forza Motorsport 3 for EUR 280 (about $400).

The new Xbox 360 lineup is starting to solidify: We've got the $250 Xbox 360 Pro, the $300 120GB Elite, and now a 250GB version (Xbox 360 Even More Elite?) that may retail for $350 by itself. 250GB is more than twice the PS3 Slim's 120GB capacity, although what that extra space would be used for is anyone's guess. <![CDATA[Apple Accidentally Ships Snow Leopard With Mac Mini?]]> If we believe this shot, and we don't see much reason not to, a lucky Apple customer in Japan got a surprise with his Mac Mini purchase: A Snow Leopard install disc, ahead of its purported August 28th release.

The install disc, which is nearly identical to the Leopard install disc that comes with new Macs, clearly states that this is Mac OS version 10.6, and version 1.0 of said OS. It seems perfectly legit to us, but we wonder how such a disc could have slipped out ahead of release. Regardless, this probably means the August 28th guess isn't far off. <![CDATA[K-Mart Confirms $300 PS3 Slim Rumors With Some Subtlety]]> While we're waiting for Sony to announce a cheaper, slimmer PS3 during a press conference later today, K-Mart has this announcement on their front page...now. It looks like we get a new model and price drops on old PS3s. UPDATE:

K-Mart now has a pre-order page up as well for a $299 Slim (the same pricing we've seen leaked before...by K-Mart. Either they're the biggest screw-ups in retailer history, or Sony doesn't mind (and has even encouraged) the leaks. [Kotaku]

<![CDATA[Sony's 24.6MP a850 DSLR Leaked, May Be Pricier Than Expected]]> Sony's a850 DSLR, which looks exactly like the a900, was found lurking in a European online shop both by itself and with a lens kit. The bad part? It might be quite a bit more than the suspected $2,000.

Photorumors, who caught the camera, isn't releasing the name of the shop in hopes of wringing some more information out of them, but the a805 was priced at EUR 2,000, which means about $2,860—much more than the $2,000 we all thought the DSLR would cost. It's also suspiciously similar to the a900. We're talking carbon copy with a different model number similar. On the other hand, it does match up just about perfectly with the leaked a850 manual, so the camera probably will look just like its older brother when it's released. It still could be a mistake (and we certainly hope the price is), but this one looks pretty plausible to us. [Photorumors]
