LG Renoir Surfaces; Shows Off Touchscreen, 8MP Camera, Fingerprints

We brought you a shiny stock image of LG's Viewty successor, the Renoir, back in August, and today we're bringing you the requisite fingerprint-laden in the wild photos (with watermarks!). They give a more accurate depiction of this puppy's 8MP monster, complete with Schneider-Kreuznach certified optics, xenon flash and ISO up to 1600. There's a phone in there too, with quad-band GSM, a 3-inch touchscreen, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, and Wifi. The Renoir will be available sometime in October. Maybe they'll take that plastic band off the outside by then. [Toys and Gadgets via BGR]

First Hands-on Pics of Verizon-Branded LG Dare Cellphone

We first mentioned the upcoming LG Dare, also known as the VX9700, back in March. But now over on Phone Arena more pics of the candybar touchscreen cellphone have emerged. They show it carrying the Verizon brand, a little more of the phone's UI, and confirm that the 3.2-megapixel autofocus cam will have a flash. The Dare will also sport a 240 x 400 pixel screen, browser, Bluetooth 2.0, 3.5 mm headset socket and supports microSDHC cards up to 8GB. Its release date has been pushed back to July—until then, cast your eyes over the pics. [Phone Arena]

Design LG's Touchscreen Phone UI Theme, Win $14,000

LG's in the midst of revamping their touchscreen UI, possibly because their previous touchscreen phones weren't all that great, but possibly because...ok that's probably the reason. Not only is the Korean company looking internally at their own designers to fix the problem, but they've offered a 14 million Korean Won prize ($14,364) to the community for someone to come up with a UI theme that's good enough for engineers to work with. The submission above, although quite nice looking, is a bit too cluttered to be useful in our opinion. What would you say to your grandma that's trying to make a call? "It's right there, next to the steampunk valve and the gear icon?" [LG via Unwired View via Crunchgear]

Checkout the gallery for some more great shots, then jump for the specs.

LG Touch Web Cellphone Has 3-inch 800 x 480 Screen, Full Browser

LG are sending some serious touchscreen love to South Korea, all in the form of the Touch Web cellphone, a.k.a. LG-LH2300. The touchscreen wonder has a 3-inch display, with a staggering 800 x 480 resolution, as well as a 3MP camera with AF, MicroSD memory slot and a full internet browser, which has incorporated hot keys and a jog wheel for scrolling. The widescreen toting cellphone is expected to retail for 700,000 KRW ($693,) when it begins to ship this April. At present, the device is a South Korea exclusive and there is no word on a Stateside release as yet, but honestly, we wouldn't hold our breath. [Aving] More »

LG's Glimmer Phone Has Touchscreen + Keypad, Heading to Alltel

LG's previously leaked Glimmer phone does something interesting that we haven't seen much of before—combine a touchscreen with a slide-out keypad underneath. The 2.8-inch touchscreen lets you control the 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and AGPS (assisted GPS), but if you've got ham hands and feel like touch-dialing is a bit of a chore, you can slide out the keypad and call from there. It's an interesting compromise, and definitely an worthwhile phone if you're an Alltel subscriber. No price or availability dates yet. [Electronista]

We have already seen some of the phones in LGs KF lineup, and now it seems that the company will be showing off a few more phones at next week's CeBIT show in Germany. The KF750 codenamed "Libra" appears to be a touchscreen slider with a 5 megapixel camera, VGA cam for video calls, and 160MB of internal memory with a microSD card slot. More »

LG Says 'Touch Me' With Touchscreen With MFFM37 MP3 Player

LG's touchscreen video player does look cool (and a bit like the co-branded VW one we saw last month), but who's going to know how to pronounce MFFM? People will think you're talking with your mouth full when you're trying to tell them about the 320x240 2.4-inch LCD, the 4GB memory, MP3/WMA/OGG/MPEG4/WMV9 playback, and the 90mm x 51.5mm x 9.9 mm dimensions. Good thing you called it the "Touch Me," which is marginally better than MFFM. Unless MFFM stands for the type of party that Fleshbot's familiar with, in which case we change our minds completely. LG Planning Dual Touchscreen Clamshell

Now that the Prada phone is out, rumor has it that LG is planning another touchscreen cellphone. This time around the phone will be a clamshell with dual touchscreens (like this NTT DoCoMo phone). The touchscreens will function as one giant display, or they can act independently of one another, with the bottom screen acting as the control screen (kinda like the Nintendo DS). More »

Laura Ocaña Spells iPhone's Doom, Prefers Prada Boots to LG Prada

Yes, I know what you are asking: who is Laura Ocaña when she's not at home? To start with, she's the unofficial Miss Gizmodo Spain and Eternal-Goddess-at-large. But most importantly, she is a normal, non-geeky consumer and one of the few who has spent a few days actually using the LG Prada constantly. I talked with her for an hour, and as well as being funny, smart and charming, she uncovered a few new things about the LG Prada and something about touchscreens that Steve Jobs should take notes on. All, with a load of unpublished photos, in the interview right after the jump. More »
