My favorite line from the article...

"I was wholeheartedly satisfied with my iPhone. And then it failed me."

I find it ironic that one of the few actual tactile buttons on the iPhone is how it met it's demise. Redesign, no more buttons!

This is why I only wear leather or latex skirts, dresses, stockings, tops, and pants.

    Zero lint, and maximum fashion...

I think this guy's, ah, using a hatchet where he needs a scalpel (or desperate for something to write about in his magazine). I've never busted open an iPhone, but I've taken apart a whole bunch of iPods (mostly to do that folded-business-card hard drive fix I read about in the NYTimes) and never 'destroyed' anything.

just more evidence that apple devices aren't actually supposed to be touched by bare human hands.

Seems like this all could've been avoided had the home button been attached to some sort of rubber nipple button, which wouldn't allow any dust/lint to reach the mechanism.

I'd hate to see what happens when you carry it around in your underwear on a daily basis.

Maybe apple should merely place the button behind a solid one piece faceplate, like a touch button that doesn't require huge pressure to operate? Then, no hole, no lint...

And really that man needs to wash his pants more often.

We have issued 75+ BlackBerry devices, and a couple of them have gotten crap inside the trackball. The major difference, of course, is that it is easy to take apart the sucker and clean it out.

That said, what is a few devices going bad when we are talking about design aesthetics, right?
