It's certainly a cool idea. I'd even buy one, but liquid and electronics don't usually mix and that squicks me.

    I don't think I'm that good of a shot.

Saaaaaaaaaaay . . . instead of newspapers posted over urinals, will we now be able to have televisions that are powered only while the urinals are in use? Maybe networked, self-powered urinals with special versions of Pong or artillery games?

Urine-charged batteries could revolutionize road trips. Forget stopping for fuel and forget stopping to pee; with this technology, you can drain your tank and fill your electric vehicle's battery at the same time.

I once generated a charge with urine. I believe it was public indecency.

"Any liquid" means it'll take any old electrolyte. The consumables are still in the battery itself, and I'm not convinced that the energy efficiency will be all that great. If you're extracting the chlorophyll and throwing away all of the carbohydrate generated by the plant in its lifetime, well, that's rather like buying a tank of gas and trying to run your car by burning receipt.

Say, does this means colostomy bags will soon have USB ports?

@FredicvsMaximvs: Either that or urinals will have them. Imagine being able to charge your cell phone or ipod while you take a leak.

Sounds like voodoo to me... and even if it's legit, it won't fly because people aren't looking for a battery that supplies LESS power, even if it is 'greener' than conventional options.

As a wee lad I peed all over the remote to our (in that time) very expensive TV. It never did work right again :(

Wait a minute... I remember seeing a commercial for a remote control car or something like that a year or 2 ago. You would pour different liquids into the cars container to give it power. Trying to find the best liquid to power the car..

Probably not the same I guess..
