@dirtybacon: I tell you I will never go back to any other keyboard. Logitech makes some of the best keyboards around. My G11 keyboard lasted me for a long time until I broke it.
Now I have a G15 and I love it. I don't like the orange LED as much as the blue but it looks damn good. The keys have this soft texture to them. Kinda make you feel like you're typing on marshmallow keys. #logitechg110
@psychonaut2021: Jesus is THE man!: Is it just the feel? I mean, do you think that the keyboard has any effect on ergonomics? I get pinky cramps often. (I know how gay that sounds, but it is from a football injury, so there!) #logitechg110
@dirtybacon: I have a G15 as well, and the USB ports alone make it worth it for me. Makes swapping flash drives easy since my computer does not have front USB ports.
I agree with Psychonaut as well, the keys of the keyboard do feel very nice. #logitechg110
@dirtybacon: The keyboard layout is pretty much standard. Actually, Gizmodo had an article on it a couple of years ago; [gizmodo.com]
Whether you're a gamer or a generic PC user, you can't go wrong with it. It also features macro keys, as well as multimedia controls. Great for when you're watching porn! The mute button has saved me many times :P #logitechg110
Wait, they want how much for that keyboard and mouse? Oddly enough, I am Just Fine Thank You with my LX710 combo - takes up a bit more space, but not much. Their 'space-saver' demonstration image appears to be comparing this 'board to my Model M, unless the K340 has minuscule Eee-sized keeeys.
Wow. When I first saw the picture I thought "a laptop with detachable screen? Really???"
And as it turns out: not really. That thing there is simply a STAND for your FULL LAPTOP.
But you heard it here first folks. Modular laptops. You'll be able to hang the screen on a wall, while you work from your wireless keyboard/mouse. Need to go somewhere? Reattach the screen to the keyboard, and pack up the mouse (or opt for the built-in keyboard nub, naturally) and you're ready to bring the whole setup in "standard laptop" form with you when you travel.
@TuxBobble: Learn your history. Dynabook Technologies came out with a modular laptop 20 years ago; you would hang the screen on the back of the airplane seat in front of you. The startup crashed. It remains a good idea, but I think it's a difficult engineering challenge to combine a removable screen with a strong enough hinge. #logitechnotebookkitmk605
@skierpage: Haha, easy sport. No need to "in my day" me. (I'm a 22-year-old engineer myself, so that's a bit before my time, excuse me for not being aware since it clearly didn't amount to much haha) Wasn't seriously proposing anything, just commenting on a novel idea.
My point remains: I'd still buy one, if it worked properly, haha.
What McDonalds are you going to where a value menu comes out to 5 bucks? It's like 8-10bucks a meal for a regular combo around here. I actually go to Applebees and Chilis because it's better food for the same price.
@Xagest: Er what? value meals are $5-6 here, and that's East Bay, SF, which has some of the highest food and cost of living in the country. Where are you, Hawaii?
I love my Steelseries Ikari. Got it at Christmas last year and haven't looked back. I missed the added weight a little at first, but found I held onto the mouse better when I got a sweaty hand from extended gaming sessions (lulz). There's not a ton of extra stuff to fuss with, just the essentials, like a mouse should have.
Though I have thought about picking up Razer's newest wireless mouse for the 2 extra buttons by the index finger. But seeing as how I don't play wow anymore, my need for more mouse buttons is very small.
I have to disagree 100%. I upgraded from an original G5 to the G500 as soon as it came in stock at my local Fry's.
I find the scroll wheel to be a major improvement over the G5. On the G5 when you clicked it either didn't register or it clicked 2-3 times. I have the exact opposite experience with my G500. The wheel click has been precise every time. I don't use the fluid scroll setting at all, I like the click.
As far as the side buttons go I find them to be very usable even with my big hands. I play TF2 a lot as well and use the closest button for voice comm and the middle button for last weapon switch and I haven't had any problem with hitting the wrong button. They're nicely grooved to be able to tell which is which to me. Also, having the extra button for back/forward navigation in browsers is nice.
Ha! I ditched my first G5 for the second G5 (with two thumb buttons) exactly because I couldn't stand how I was always side-scrolling the wheel when I wanted to click it, and I usually never change hardware until a few iterations have passed.
I don't understand why they would have made the same mistake after fixing it once.
So I'm NOT the only one who can't handle the middle button on these things.
When you spend most of your time in UNIX-land, middle-mouse-button is paste. Middle button is therefore used VERY often, and the G5 was driving me nuts. For the longest time I thought the middle button was BROKEN - I'd hear it click but nothing would paste. I replaced it three times before I figured it out.
I'm a huge Logitech fan, too - my first mouse was a Mouse Systems Mouse clone, but ever since then they've all been Logitech. I'm sad they haven't fixed the side-scroll thing. I've been too afraid to buy another mouse with side-scroll in case they ALL do this - it's a bit hard to test on the not-plugged-into-anything demo mice at stores.
@matt buchanan: FYI, G9 and G9x have it, if that makes a bit of difference.
I've got the G500 as well, and I have to completely disagree. Yeah, the scroll wheel's middle button is hard to press, but so are most of Logitech's mice. Most people, gamers or otherwise, don't use the middle mouse button, and if you're like me and have the frictionless scroll, you'll never use the middle mouse button again. Its worthless in comparison.
Now, it does have the extra programmable thumb button, which could easily replace it if you so choose. I find it to be a much better gaming mouse than the G9/G9x, and I think that it is snappier, more responsive and more comfortable than any other gaming mouse I've used, besides the SideWinder x8. And for the price...how can you lose out?
As for the thumb buttons, maybe you just haven't been playing enough with it. I haven't had a single problem with it, in several different games. The programming system is fine, the buttons are fine...I have no idea what you're complaining about. This mouse is wonderful.

Also....
"...straddle the line between suggestive and aggressive, so it feels just right, like Zach Morris."

Nope. The G9 has that - and it works perfectly: super smooth on the fast mode, tight and precise on the clicky.
