Apple Now Offers $1200 8GB RAM Upgrade on New MacBook Pros, Backwards Compatibility Unclear |

This is why Apple is such a crap company.. just bending people over and raping them for the price of RAM.
Plus all the fan boys will pay it cause they think it has Steve Jobs love paint spewed all over the insides.
I have 8gb in my computer now and it cost me less than a $50 (after rebates)... love live the economical and practical PC. :)

THATS RIGHT, I'M RICH BITCH!
Seriously though, prease say we can get 8gb in the Unibody mbp.
Not that I need it for pr0n surfing.

now, for apple to do that it would cost a lot. (billions?)
sorry, i'm just not an Apple fan... on the plus side at least you know someone who enjoys windows on a daily basis!

I mean come on, its Mac certified RAM. You can't just be all buying parts for your computer all willy nilly. Can you imagine if you could just go to the store anytime you wanted and purchase an upgrade for your computer WITHOUT a Mac Genius to put it in for you. It was a disaster.
Thats a world I don't want to live in.
Ok, I can't continue to hold a straight face, why is apple releasing so much expensive crap in this economy.

2GB of RAM will be more than enough for most users, at the moment.

It looks like the 15" MacBook pros @ 2.66Ghz start at 4GB also, but I'm on the apple store right now and for the life of me I can't find a memory option for that computer...

Sorry to repeat myself -- said this in a reply above:
@ Apple Store you are paying for an upgrade to 8GB from (AFAIK) 4GB, so the $1200 is technically for 4GB of RAM, not 8.

*With the proper Torx screwdriver set, one can just as well open the proprietary 360 HDD enclosure and swap the SATA drive

NO! You fucking moron! You don't need the ";" you could just use "and" you IDIOT! I hate you and I have nothing better to do with my time other than to correct grammar and spelling as it fills the empty void in my life that my parents took away when they abandoned me! Though I am justified in my anger because you are wrong!
Also, it should be 8,000 RAM slots YOU INCOMPETENT FOOL! ARHGHASDOGJHASEG:L#JKHT:ALEKHt! I AM GIZ POSTER!
::clears throat::
Eh hem. Excuse me. The ";" may be right, and the 7,998, but I couldn't find anything wrong with your post so I had to make it up in order to do a proper rendition of "Le Giz Poster". Thank you.

Sorry for yelling, but Jesus, people, Apple rapes you subjects you to an unpleasant time on the price of RAM. Go to pricewatch.com or something

Seriously, and what people seem to forget is that you're paying $1200 for FOUR GIGs OF RAM, not eight. It already comes with 4.
I know the 4GB modules are more than double the $$ of the 2GBs, so it's not really an apples-to-apples comparison (PUN!), but still. $300/gig is not cool. Not cool at all. What is this, 2002?

I am in fact way on.
According to your logic, they should ship a laptop with 2x4GB sticks and also send you 2x2GB sticks on the side.
The fact is that 2x2GB sticks are already built into the base price of the machine. So they are not using those in an 8GB machine, yet you've paid for them. Thus the price of $1200 is for an _upgrade_, not the cost of 8GB of RAM.

I misunderstood and thought that this was an upgrade during customization of the machine and not an after-purchase upgrade (some commenter below pointed this out). Please do allow me to back out of the room as gracefully as possible.....
