Worst customer service I have ever experienced on the web. Ordered the MacPadd nearly one month ago and still haven't received it. Eight emaila and 3 telephone messages later and I haven't had any response from the company about what's happen to my order... they did however already bill my charge card for the MacPadd. BEWRAE this company... no matter how good the product is, it's not worth the terrible communications.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the MX1100 is not a good mouse.

    - The scroll wheel is atrocious. It's a complete gimmick. "Frictionless" scrolling means your page is going to shift on you even when you inadvertently graze the wheel, and the faux mechanical setting doesn't scroll consistently with each notch. Utterly useless.

    - It's not balanced because all the weight comes from the AA batteries, which means the mouse tracking sucks at high DPI settings.

    - Logitech removed the useful up/down scroll buttons and third thumb button from the MX1000.

    - The rechargeable battery in my MX1000 is 5 years old, and still lasts a week on a single charge. AA batteries would cost another $20+ if I had to replace them every 3-6 months for 5 years.

The MX1000 had it's share of flaws, but, overall, it's a much better mouse. Rather than fix it's shortcomings, Logitech got caught up with gimmicky technology (starting with the revolution series) and screwed up their line. Sad.

@mrbrownstone: You're supposed to lock the wheel into "regular" scrolling unless you're shooting down a page. That may be your problem. It feels pretty balanced here, but I'm not doing much twitch gaming on it.

The up/down buttons are replaced by the wheel, yeah. Similar, but not the same. I like it more though.

Will Apple sue them for copying the same unibody manufacturing process which enables them to produce this mousepad from a single piece of aluminum, just like the new MacBooks..?

If you really wanted an anodized aluminum mouse pad you could make one in what ever size you wanted for a HELL OF A LOT CHEAPER then 25 bucks and it could be in any shape with a cool picture etched into it (see makezine.com)

@.king: I certainly do for three good reasons.

    1. My hand tends to stick to the desk/wood/particle-board that I'm using.

    2. The underside of the mouse stays clean. Standard Microsoft mice with the large "feet" on the bottom tend to gum up quick, and get stuck.

    3. It's quieter than listening to the mouse go CLUNK... CLUNK... CLUNK every few seconds.

    4. Related to #2, I find mice generally always track better on mousepads than solid surfaces. Not to mention there are some surfaces that laser mice just will not work with. We have some desks at work that are sprayed with this kind of smooth, black powder coat. Laser mice refuse to function normally on those desks at all.

@.king: Best mouse pad i ever bought was my black icemat. (10"x12" frosted glass). Had the smoothest movement of any pad, and works great with laser and optical mouse. Around that same price range when i got mine but now they are unavailable. There new aluminum ones might be worth trying out. (around the same price i believe but more real-estate). Has lasted me +4 years.

@blackmage439: I've never really had those problems. I don't think I'm alone because I can't for the life of me remember the last time I saw someone actually using a mousepad.

But, I keep my desk pretty clean and sprayed down so I very rarely need to clean the feet of the mouse. And the clunking never crossed my mind. Though I was also never a person who got annoyed by things like pencil/finger tapping, whistling, humming, etc.

@Eavangel: I have an icemat as ell. Outside of the sliding along glass noise it works very well.

My G7 doesn't like to track on wood very well at times, so the mouspad had to be brought back out.

Plus, when it's a bare or finished wood surface versus say, a plastic surface, I'm more worried about damaging/dirtying the surface. Mousing areas tend to pick up an amazing amount of gunk on them. It's kind of gross really.

@blackmage439: Yeah, those are some of the reasons why I use a mousepad too. The biggest may be that I don't want my desk getting scraped to hell.
