    I built an arcade cabinet and some games for my thesis project. It was really easy and cheap. A few Happ Joysticks, Buttons, an Arduino and some software and that was it.

    While I commend your work I have to question the logic behind the tiny porthole screen and the low unit height considering that you and/or your friends are too tall to play that comfortably.

    And here's the Arcade Coffee Table.
    It cost me a whopping $200, but that because I wanted quality 2-player arcade controls from X-Arcade, which run about $100... it would probably cost less to wire your own but I lack the skills at the moment...

    Whenever a friend or family member wants to throw a working old computer and CRT monitor out in the garbage (!!!!) I snag it and make and arcade :)

    I've seen reviews of the X-arcade and they're not great especially at its price point. Building your own would probably run half the cost. As long as you know how to solder the wiring is dead simple (and well documented online), only tricky part is making a case for the controller but if you have the tools you can do it with some reasonable woodworking skills.

    My roommate and I built one earlier this year. Ran us about a grand for a 4-player, 6,500-game cabinet.

    @OCEntertainment: I've built a MAME cab. and also restored a Pac-Man cab. Between the two, starting fresh is relatively easy. Make sure to learn the ins and outs of cutting MDF (the wood used in most cabinets). If memory serves you need to use a fine tooth blade to keep from getting gnarly edges. If you have a router, circular saw, and maybe a jig you should be OK.

    @Segador: just make a batch of barley wine, it will take you half as much beer to get crocked, so you'll worry 50% less about how much you paid for it.

    @Lite: killed Dumbledore: I've been making my own beer for years. San Antonio Homebrew Supply is run by a batshit-insane stoner who only realizes he has customers about 50% of the time, but he does have some killer barleywine recipes.

    Probably build one yourself for less than half that price. It's basically a computer built into a arcade looking cabinet with a kegerator hooked up to it. A little more creativity would be nice. Something like games that would automatically trigger the machine to fill up a beer to drink whenever you lose or something. Also, I wouldn't know where to get kegs these size kegs.

    @Purple Monkey Dishwasher: That is a "Sixth Barrel" which is a standard keg size. It is smaller than your "Pony Keg" or quarter barrel.

    The other nice thing about this setup is that it is also the proper size to hold homebrew beer.
