There's an instant coffee pun in there some where
12/12/08
oh noes, your respect - what WILL we do without it?
12/12/08
And anyone know why they didn't use glass?
12/12/08
cold brew is always less acidic, and acid makes for bitter coffee.

"Hi, I'm a java junkie..."

That said, I can actually see using this one for iced coffee. Making a concentrate would be good for that, taking up less room in the fridge.

Using a device to make coffee extract is an old practice. Look up the Toddy coffee maker. It makes a bunch of extract you can keep in the fridge. Then, whenever you want a cup of coffee, add some water to some extract and you get a hot cup of coffee. And it's pretty good stuff - very smooth.
A French press is the fastest way to make good coffee quickly - from beans to coffee.

You could even use FIREWOOD to make coffee in much less time.
FAIL!
12/12/08
you don't HAVE to heat water, the brewing is done cold. you could then drink it cold. and of course you need an energy source to heat water - the idea behind NOT using heat int he brewing process is cold water extracts less acids from the beans, making for a less bitter brew even at weapons-grade strength. this is for taste, not convenience.

Any additional FAIL must be submitted no less than thirty (30) days from original failed FAIL.
You, sir = FAIL.

Care to explain why?
@gman2093:
So you cut and pasted PART of my post but you forgot to read the rest?
"You could even use FIREWOOD to make coffee in much less time."
@nutbastard: Don't blame me i voted for Ron Paul edition:
Obviously, I'm talking about a HOT cup of coffee. Stay within SCOPE.
12/12/08
so you're complaining that you would have to heat water... in order to have a hot cup of coffee?
ooooooo-kaaaay....

Had you bothered to READ you would understand. As usual, you are stuck out in left field wondering WTF is going on while all the other players are having a beer at the local pub.
"We took one look at the electricity-free Hourglass Coffee Maker"
That claim is pointless. Why don't they just claim they have a waterless toilet. All you need to do is slit your wrist and bleed into it and flush with that instead.
Got any other brain busters?
12/15/08
I'm still trying to get you to address your complaint that, in order to have a hot cup of coffee, one would have to heat water.
The quote from the article has nothing to do with what we're talking about.

well it's all acidic to one degree or another - caffeine itself is acidic.
12/12/08
this is just a "hobo" coffee maker. and while hobo coffee is pretty damn good (especially if you use lots of unground beans) who plans their caffeine fix 12 hours in advance?
12/12/08
12/12/08
which is a lot better than the other new one, Homomodo, as well as their fusion site, Homohobomodo.
12/12/08
I don't plan my caffeine fix, it plans me.

braun bean grinder(blade type) don't remember the cost because it has lasted 9 years, so far
3 lb bag of sumatra french roast at costco $11.00
i'm thinking i like my set up better, and i can have coffee in 10 minutes, not 12 hours.
12/12/08
And coffee is one of the few commodities that I can actually justify buying in bulk.
