Nice! Now only if they could do something about that awful keyboard it would be perfect.

I've had my fill of the matte black Macbook, and am now enjoying the nice brushed aluminium, whatwhat.

@Kaiser-Machead: I would like to see black aluminum. Though I am pretty content with the current aluminum ones (well mine is a MBP from last summer).

@snoop_dizzle: They look great coming out of the box, but over time, dirt and fingerprints gravitate towards it. Every spec and smudge stands out, and unless you just don't care at all, it can turn you into an OCD clean freak. On top of that, the wear this thing will eventually get will start exposing the bright aluminum underneath, namely around the USB and Firewire ports, and possibly the access panel on the bottom (I assume this is most recent, so may not have one).

@Steve_W: Well I'm sort of a newbie on the aluminum ownership, so you ol' metal vets can make room for us plebes who haven't had it for very long :P

@weatherman: I as well, but I don't think that'll ever come to the MBP.

If Apple ever makes an actual netbook, no doubt THAT would come in an array of colors.

I like it, but for that price I will just buy a normal MB Pro, disassemble/remove everything, and have it painted by a pro.

    Only problem is that touchpad.

@Dr.Danger is on the motherf**king internet: Funny, that's exactly what colorware is/does. They buy MacBooks, take them apart, and apply professional automotive and other finishes to the casings. Or, you send them your product and they do the same. So, do you mean you'd get a colorware or not?

Maybe what he's trying to say is that the markup on these things is atrocious. A high-end MacBook Pro is around $2,700, meaning the paint job is over 3 grand.

@superberg: Exactly. There are professional sign/graphic painters who know about painting metals and things like this for cheaper then that. I am also a certified Mac tech, so it is no problem to take it apart properly.

After getting a second laptop with a glossy screen I can honestly say there's no way I'd go back to matte. My PowerBook LCD just looks so flat and dull in comparison to my ThinkPad and HP.

Any comparison between the PB and the newer laptops wouldn't hold much water because the dispaly on the PB is 1.) several years old and 2.) a generation or two of technology behind.

My old PB screen looks like shit next to my MBP (matte) screen.

@Doughbelly: The HP and PB are less than a year apart. I've used other, newer laptops with Matte screens. They still look like crap compared to glossy, IMO so my PB isn't the only base of comparison. It just happens to be the one in front of me right now. Calibrating it with an eye one has helped it look a lot better.

I've had the glossy screen since they first offered in the MBP. Now, personally I haven't had a problem w/ being able to see the screen. Then again, I tend to work in darker rooms anyway due to my eyes general sensitivity to light (I'm about 2 steps removed from being an albino.)
