These are completely irrelevant to me. I avoid carpentry at all costs. Last time a Jew tried his hand at carpentry, he wound up nailing himself to two pieces of lumber.

Somewhat glove related:

I was at Chipotle yesterday and while I was in line, I noticed the guy in the back putting on gloves to prepare to cut the meat. So, on one hand, he put the basic latex glove, but on the other, he put on this awesome chainmail glove, sort of like those things divers wear to protect themselves from sharts. He put the other latex glove over that. I just thought it was a brilliant idea to keep from cutting yourself while slicing up chunks of meat.

Ok, I get that some people are just outright slobs. I also get that sometimes a kleenex doesn't cut it and a delicate manual extraction technique is required but please tell me who picks their nose with gloves on?

Do you really need gloves for not-so-precise hand measurements? I have been using index finger length (3") and finger width (1cm) for a long time and its worked pretty well.

@Curves: Reminds me of an old episode of MASH were Trapper was stuck in a minefield with a orphan Korean boy, and they were trying to figure out the scale on the landmine map. Col. Blake says something like, "this is three inches. I know, b/c my finger has been three inches since high school", to which Hawkeye says something snappy.

@SWM,30isoSWF_GitEmSteveDave: Yes, I went to high school so long ago, they didnt HAVE rulers, so the books told us fingers were 3" long and then when they touched on the metric system (my teacher assured us we would never use it since the US would never change), they said dime width is 1mm and finger width 1cm.

I just measured my finger and its actually 2 15/16" inches which just proves math sucks and they lie to you.

@Hiroak: I would actually prefer to spend a day in my kitchen (which I like) than at work (which I only sometimes like).

And I would never hit you. Fear and intimidation are much more effective tools than force. :)
