We've got a huge gallery to ogle, bidding starts at $300 and 15 percent of the proceeds go to Child's Play. Go bid! [eBay]

<![CDATA[Custom Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 On eBay Blows Minds and Wallets]]> Don't get me wrong, the limited edition gun-metal grey PS3 was badass and everything, but as you can see, this MGS4 tribute is on an entirely different level. Crafted by Morpheon Mods—aka, our buddy Ramon who was responsible for many, many other console mods—the entire console and controller is a combination of carbon fiber and midnight black done in a digital camouflage technique and protected with nine coats of DuPont Chroma clearcoat. If that wasn't enough, the laser-cut stainless steel marquee artwork is illuminated by 15 white micro LEDs and Hideo Kojima himself was kind enough to autograph it. Oh, and there is a working backwards-compatible 60GB PS3 hidden in there somewhere as well.

As mentioned, you can actually purchase this beautiful piece of machinery on eBay along with a bonus bag of rare MGS gear like t-shirts, decals, dog tags, strategy guides—even a GA-KO alarm clock thrown in to sweeten the deal. Not surprisingly, it is going to cost a fortune when all is said and done (bidding is at $1625 with about 6 days left), but keep in mind that 15% of the proceeds will go to Penny Arcade's charity, Child's Play. Nice work as usual, Ramon! [eBay]

<![CDATA[Lightning Review: Metal Gear Solid 4 Bluetooth Headset]]>
The Gadget: The official Metal Gear Solid 4 Bluetooth Headset, which takes its design cues from stuff Snake actually wears in the game, like his Solid Eye and that body suit made for sneaking.

The Price: $59

The Verdict: Passable only for gigantic MGS4 fans. Here's what we found. First, it's very uncomfortable to wear for more than 15 minutes at a time due to the shape of the ear-piece. It loops behind your ear and basically pinches itself in place. The back of the plastic part jabs into our ear painfully if worn too long. Not good.

When paired with the PS3, we got significant feedback and static when we were sitting on our couch, which didn't get better as we moved closer to the PS3. The guys on the other side claimed that the headset generated a noticeable amount of echo. The incoming sound quality wasn't that great on our side either. In comparison, the Callpod Dragon Bluetooth headset we synced with the PS3 sounded fine, with no echo and very little static. It was slightly better if you turned down the volume via the earpiece, but still nothing we'd call "great" or even "good."

On a side note, it's not that great for cellphones, seeing as it gets very staticy if you move beyond a few feet away from your phone (we tested it with the iPhone). So there's no redeeming it there either.

Still, if you're a huge fan of Snake and can make do with the uncomfortable form factor and lousy sound quality, here's a headset that kinda makes you look like Snake, provided you grow a moustache and/or a mullet.

<![CDATA[Metal Gear Solid 4 Watch Says It's Time For Snaaaaaaake!]]> Not only are we gigantic fans of the Metal Gear Solid series as a whole (we're guts deep in the latest saga right now), we're also big fans of being able to tell time. That's why this limited edition MGS4 watch, given to preorder sales at UK's Gamestation, is so damn fantastic. There are only 500 of these Hideo Kojima-endorsed watches in the entire country, which makes us sad. Preorder yours now if you're a Brit and you like the action stylings of Solid, Liquid, Naked, Solidus and Old Snake. [Gamestation via Kotaku]

<![CDATA[Metal Gear Solid 4 Bluetooth Headset Reviewed (Sounds Like Crap)]]> No wonder Solid Snake is so grouchy in Metal Gear Solid 4. Sure, the MGS4 Bluetooth headset looks like the most badass one ever, but the sound quality is apparently horrible—like you've been kidnapped and gagged with Liquid Ocelot's underwear. How are you supposed to banter with Roy Campbell while ducking exclamation points if he can't understand you? I think this officially ruins our Friday. =( [Gadget Madness via PS3Fanboy via Kotaku]

<![CDATA[Details of North American MGS4 PS3 Bundle Come to Light]]> Get your wallets ready, fanboys: the details for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition PS3 have been announced. What do you get for your $600? Well, first and foremost you get a gunmetal 40GB PS3 with a new Dualshock 3 controller. You get the limited edition version of the game as well, and you also get a Blu-ray with two hours of bonus content about the making of the game.

Personally, I'd be fine saving $100 and getting the standard edition bundle, as it has twice the hard drive space and all you have to give up is the fancy paintjob and Blu-ray disc you'll watch once, if ever. But hey, I'm not a fanboy, so what do I know? If you are a fanboy and are popping a tent just imaging having an OMG gray PS3, you'll be able to put in your preorder at Konami.com starting on Monday, May 19th. [Playstation Blog]

<![CDATA[First Live Shots of Metal Gear Solid 4 Bluetooth Headset]]> We've been dreaming of using the Metal Gear Solid 4 Bluetooth headset for secret pantsing missions every since we laid eyes on it. <![CDATA[Metal Gear Solid 4 Bluetooth Headset Takes Crown For Best Headset Ever]]> This is, without a doubt, the absolute best Bluetooth headset ever made by human hands. We have no idea whether the battery life is acceptable, whether the noise reduction is adequate, or whether it even fits well over our ear. What we do know is that it's a Metal Gear Solid 4 headset, which means it belongs to Snake. SNAKE! This alone makes it worth our $59.99. Look for a simultaneous release on June 12 with the MGS4 game on PS3. Again: best headset ever. [Kotaku]

<![CDATA[Badass Steel Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 Is US Bound (!)]]> Originally thought to be another one of those obscene Japan-only gamer perks, the limited edition Metal Gear Solid 4 gun-metal grey PS3 is going to be infiltrating the US after all. But it might easier to procure an actual Metal Gear than one of these babies—the official Playstation blog warns that the package is going to be a "VERY, VERY Limited Edition bundle!" <![CDATA[Blu-ray Cannot Contain Metal Gear Solid 4's Awesomeness]]> The one technical advantage Blu-ray held over HD DVD is that Blu-ray discs hold more stuff, 50GB on a dual-layer disc. But that's still not enough for Metal Gear Solid 4 in all its glory, according to creator Hideo Kojima:

Kojima: For us, we're not still not satisfied with the quality we can do. You know, there's not capacity space.

Interviewer: Wait, wait a sec. Saying there's not enough capacity, are you talking about Blu-ray?

Kojima: That's correct. There's not enough space at all. [Laughs] ...There's not enough space. We always talked about where to cut and what to compress.

Just how does one cut and compress pure badassness? And the race to develop a new super-duper HD format begins...now. [Hatimaki via (and translated by) Kotaku]]]>

<![CDATA[80GB PlayStation 3 Not Exactly Discontinued, Just Bundled With Metal Gear Solid 4]]> The fact that stores everywhere, including Sony's own SonyStyle, were dropping the 80GB seemed to point to a conclusion that the 80GB was on its way out. Not exactly. As we found out today, the 80GB version is going to be back on June 12, but it's going to be packed with a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4 and a DualShock 3 controller. All this for the same price of $499. Yes ma'am. [Kotaku]
