Meet Fujitsu's hard disk. Apparently the MHW2040AC (crazy name, crazy guy) can cope with extreme temperatures, from -35ºC to 80ºC, so if you're recreating Michael Palin's Pole to Pole trek, this 2.5-inch, 40GB hardman is the one for you. It is not water-resistant, however, and it won't carry your snowshoes.
