DM: k...There are a lot of nice places to sit under lots of nice trees around the marketplace. There's a pretty garden and everything. With a gazebo!
Player 1: neat!
Player 2: I want to attack the gazebo. #ddsurface
This could be interesting... couple of months ago.
But now? Meh.
Project Natal + Mod.
Instead of having a stinking table filled with handgrease, germs and whatnot (which will also require a projector and f*ckton of money it seems), you just point to your lamp and say "LET THERE BE LIGHT!!!"
And thus thou shall have spoken, for light will be.
Very impressive. Maximum PC had an article a few months back on how to make your own multi-touch table (article here) It might be worth making that a side project if RUSE ends up having touch support in the final product.
EDIT: Removed price estimation. It should be under $1000, IIRC, but I didn't see an actual total in the article.
@dallasmay2: Yes - that's all it's good for. They haven't done anything else with it. It doesn't have any other application possibilities. None. Just a "kick Ass" arcade game.
"Supposed to come out"? They've been out and available for corporate purchase for quite some time now.
Touchscreen table does not equal Microsoft Surface, let's try to separate user interface hardware from a software concept. Tilting a touchscreen 90 degrees doesn't turn it into a Microsoft product. This one is actually made by Intuilab.
@Xeno: Actually, it appears that Joystiq saw the same video from E3 and then also assumed it was a Microsoft Surface. Then all the re-bloggers and rumor mills repeated the assumption thousands of times, which doesn't make it any more accurate.

"There is a clearing. In the clearing stands a gazebo"
"I shoot an arrow at the gazebo."
"The arrow hits the gazebo. The gazebo is still standing."
"Is it hurt?"
"No. The gazebo takes no damage."
"I shoot another arrow at the gazebo."
"The arrow hits. The gazebo takes no damage."
"What is it doing?"
"It's just standing there in the clearing."
"What kind of armor is the gazebo wearing? Is it wearing armor?"
"No. The gazebo is not wearing armor. It has no weapons. The gazebo is just standing there - with two arrows sticking into it."
"I cast Magic Missile at the gazebo."
"Magic missile hits the gazebo. It takes no damage." #ddsurface

What else is MS Surface good for? Oh that's it. Really, that's it? A $10,000 game console? And it was supposed to come out in '07?
Is this what they call 'Vapor-ware'?
