    I work in a more conventional Data Center that is a fraction of the size of this one and I can't stress how truly massive 700,000 sq ft is. To put it in perspective my center is currently 19,000 sq ft (it's brand new so we only have 1 of 4 phases built out) and we need 2 emergency power generators, a ton of batteries for back up, and over a 1000 tons of cooling. Microsoft's Data Center is about 37 times as big, the infrastructure alone much have cost a small fortune. However their center is Modular (using shipping containers) which I think is a very cool idea, but probably requires less emergency power infrastructure then a conventional center.

    PS - In case anyone was wondering Picture 3 is their Main-Tie-Main which basically reroutes power from the A side feed to the B side feed in case of a power outage. #microsoftdatacenter

    @Jrsy Devil's Advocate®: We sent a plumber to work on that big green pipe on the left. I heard a sound like "DO Do do do" and he got sucked right in. Never should have installed those warp level servers. #microsoftdatacenter

    @Jrsy Devil's Advocate®: Fine. they *may* install and repair the piping for that system. Not many plumbers work on chillers though. I work for a pretty big hvac company, so cut me a little slack. (chiller on the right looks like a york or carrier centrifugal chiller) #microsoftdatacenter

    @Spacehog85: I'm familiar with chillers. My dad did plumbing before getting into HVAC work.
