A 5-megapixel sensor's been plopped into the Digital SpyCam, which remains tiny at just 3 and 3/8 x 1 and 3/16 x 7/8-inches and weighing in at 2.1 ounces: small enough to disappear into a leather-clad fist when it needs to be concealed. With a lithium battery, and 42mm equivalent lens, plus capability of saving onto 16GB memory cards, it's no slouch either. Budding spys, and perhaps genuine ones (Mi6 take note) will be able to grab one now for $199. [Minox]

<![CDATA[All-in-One Digital Eyepiece Camera for Hunters, Birdlovers, Spies]]> MINOX aims to bring "affordable digiscoping to everyone" with its new Digital Eyepiece Camera 5.0. Unlike traditional digiscoping methods of attaching a digital camera to a telescope, the 5.0 is an all-in-one solution that combines a camera, scope and eyepiece into a single device. Features include a 2.4-inch TFT screen, 40x magnification, 128MB of internal memory, SD card expansion up to 4GB, and it's waterproof and shockproof. At a price of $449 it is a hell of a lot cheaper than a good DSLR with a telephoto lens, and more convenient to use than a pieced-together digiscope. [MINOX via Crave Asia]

<![CDATA[Rugged Camera from Minox is Waterproof to 33 Feet and Just Rubbery]]> Manly and rugged outdoorsmen with small rucksacks might find Minox's DC6033 WP so far up their mountain path it's parked in their crevasse. As well as a 4x zoom, the MINOCTAR lens is multi-coated with a 42mm fixed focal length, allowing for macro shots as close as 24 inches. There's a two-inch TFT color screen, built-in flash and, as well as an internal memory of 16MB, there's a slot for an SD memory card up to 2GB. Running on two AA batteries, the DC6033 WP will be available for $299. [Aving USA]

<![CDATA[PMA 07: Minox Leica M3 Replica of a Classic Updated]]> We're not sure who buys these Minox Leica M3 mini-replica cameras, but they sure are cute. They've updated the old one with an LCD on the back and a 3.2-megapixel sensor inside (though they advertise it as a 5MP through interpolation).

The optional flash is a nice addition, too. Despite its diminutive size, even the hotshoe atop the camera is live. Maybe someone will make an adapter so that it could be used with a normal flash, but then again this is about as niche as a market could possibly get.

Check out the cute little ass-end of this babe, where that new LCD viewscreen resides:

<![CDATA[Minox Armband Keeps You from Baking in the Sun]]> We all know spending too much time in the sun is a bad thing, so the last thing we want is a gadget to nag us about it. Yet that's pretty much what the Suntimer does. When it senses you've gotten your fair share of UV rays, it sounds an alarm to tell you to head indoors. Maybe if it had some extra features we'd consider strapping one on, but we'll stick with the sunblock for now. And besides, we prefer our skin like we prefer our chicken. Extra cripsy.

<![CDATA[Steal This Camera: 24-Karat Gold-Plated Minox DC1011 Carat]]> Nothing says "steal me" quite like a pair of white earbuds or a 24k gold camera. The Minox DC1011 Carat appears to fit the bill, a compact digital camera with 24-karat gold plating and ten 2-millimeter diamonds surrounding its lens. Never mind that it's a 10.1-megapixel camera with a 2.5-inch viewscreen and a 3x zoom.

For those less well-heeled, there's a Minox DC1011 camera without all that glitter, undoubtedly at a more earthbound price. How much is this golden embodiment of farce? No one's talking just yet.

<![CDATA[Minox DC 8122 Digital Camera With 8.1-Megapixel Image Sensor]]> German outfit Minox is launching the 8.1-megapixel DC 8122 digital camera, which should straddle the line between consumer and professional camera quite well. Among the expected features of the DC 8122 is a mode that helps prevent blurred images, something that can really be appreciated when used in conjunction with the built-in image stabilizer. The camera includes just about every other feature commonly found other cameras of similar ilk, like video clip recording (30 fps AVI) and red eye reduction.

The DC 8122's 32MB of onboard memory is laughable, but a 1GB SD card easily solves that problem. The camera has a 6x optical zoom and up to 8x digital zoom, perfect for making your pictures look terrible.

Minox has yet to release the price or the exact release date of the DC 8122. Why would they?

<![CDATA[Minox DMP-3 Mini Media Player/Recorder]]>

Minox is usually a nameplate we see on cameras around here, but now the company dives into the media player/recorder business with its DMP-3, whose distinctive look is the result of a collaboration between Minox and Volkswagen-Design. This is one small unit with its largest dimension at a mere 3.5 inches, but even the eagle-eyed might have to squint to enjoy video on its 2.5-inch screen.

It packs the usual slate of features found inside most media players these days, including MPEG-4 video playback, 640x480/30fps video recording via NTSC or PAL inputs, a digital photo album from which you can print, voice recorder and of course, an audio player that can handle MP3 and WMA as long as there's none of that loathsome digital rights management attached. Plus, it will accept a 2GB SD card on which to store all that video. Nobody's talking about when we might see this on the market or at what price.

<![CDATA[Minox LX Special Edition Walter Zapp]]>

Engineer Walter Zapp invented the Minox sub-miniature camera in 1936. It subsequently went on to be marketed both as a luxury camera and as a spy camera—it was used by real spies the Falcon and the Snowman, and fictional spies like James Bond in You Only Live Twice.

The high-gloss chrome finish LX Special Edition Walter Zapp was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Zapp's birth. It ships with a silver medal and a wooden box, the perfect gift for the serious camera or spy buffs in your life, provided you think they're worth €999.

<![CDATA[Minox DC 6011: Spycam Size with 3x Zoom]]> Minox intros the DC 6011, a 6-megapixel camera that s slim and trim but fat on features. Even though it's just .7 inches thick, 3.4 inches wide and 2 inches tall, it packs a 3x optical zoom and a 2.5 inch LED screen into its meager frame. It's versatile, too, able to record video and voice on its SD card. Minox also equips the camera with PictBridge so you can print directly from its USB 2.0 port without a computer and it also includes a docking and charging station. Pricing and availability was not announced yet for this camera that's scarcely the size of a credit card.

<![CDATA[Minox DMP-2 - Does it All]]> Minox, camera makers of some renown, are trying their hand at PMPs with the DMP-2. It's got a 2.5-inch color display and a laundry list of features: stereo speakers, video- and audio-in, SD/MMC support, and voice recorder. It can also act as a digital picture frame.

As we see from this image, it only shows pictures of people skiing in the 1980s, which is weird, but at 2.4 ounces, this tiny player looks to be a worthy contender in the great brewing PMP Wars of 2006. May be Europe- or Asia-only at this point, and there's no price set.

Wrapped in a shiny aluminium body, it has a 2.5 inch LCD, 3x optical zoom, and 5.1 digital zoom. Along with automatic settings, it packs an impressive array of manual controls for a compact, such as freely selectable aperture and shutter speeds, as well as four different kinds of flash. No word on pricing or availability yet, though here's hoping it's affordable, and that it'll be out soon.
