Does it determine out of market based on my phone number/billing zip code/etc. Or my current location?

The main reason I would want this would be if I were out of town for a few days but wanted to watch the games.

(Actually the other reason would be so that I could watch the game while I'm in meetings, but no local games undercuts that completely.)

I don't get the out of market blocking on this. It's one thing to suggest that people are going to skip going to the game because they can watch the game on their computer using MLB.tv, but I don't think too many people are going to skip going to the game to watch the game on a tiny 3.5" screen and kill their battery. I wouldn't even be too surprised to see people wanting to use this app to enhance their experience at the game since you sometimes get things from the announcers on TV that you don't get from the announcers at the stadium. That, and some stadiums aren't very good at showing replays.

@Male Roof Blower: I think the point is that if it's on your local TV station, they want you to watch it there. The TV stations have paid big money to broadcast those games and they don't want your iPhone to siphon people away from the Mini Sirloin Burger ads.

@dgstan: I know the reasoning, I just don't think that anyone is going to not watch TV to watch the game on a tiny screen.

@Ricorich196: Yea, the Mariners do a similar thing with the Nintendo DS. Theoretically, since some stadiums have satellite repeaters or wifi they could work out some way of allowing people feeding off of the stadium's signal to be allowed to view the feed as if they weren't in the local market.

Dayam. If they're giving the green light to MLB, it's only a matter of time before Rachel Ray's 30 Minute Meals are available on the top and bottom of every hour. Once AT&T's pipes can handle Rachel Ray, it's game over iPhone wannabes, game over!

BTW, anyone see that episode where she made a salad out of corn chips? Or the time she grilled lemon chicken breasts?? The future is now, my friends, the future is now!!

@michaelwiggins: Are you trying to say that you don't like the graphics in the middle? I'm pretty sure that the pictures above are what you already got if you used the MLB app and this is talking about actually streaming the TV feed of the game.
