Atleast the screen still works and power, and the placement of the USB port.
From what it looks like you can control part of it with the A/B buttons. An addition (via firmware/software update) would be the ability to navigate the HD with the D pad, and use Start and Select. Possibly a bigger battery to do that while not plugged in.
I can't wait for someone to put a 2.5" hard drive inside of a 3.5" hard drive. That would be a sweet mod. Better yet, the 2.5"-in-3.5" could go into an old CD-ROM drive, and then that could be put into a 5.25" external enclosure. Perhaps the ultimate mod.
As mentioned on Kotaku, 80GB should be more than enough to hold ROMs of every game from every cartridge-based console or handheld that ever existed up to and including the DS.

Of course it was not working, and I agree that some mods are pointless when they kill off the functionality of a working device.
Now if someone could make a drive that was only unlocked by the konami code would be priceless..

The game boy has a 8-bit Sharp LR35902 processor with core processing power at 4.19 MHz
The Atom is 1.6 GHz, hardly even close.
Serious commentor is serious.
