Sony was the only presenter at E3 that showed a live demo of the 1:1 motion controls in action. Nintendo and MSFT didn't do that...and until I see it I'm skeptical.
The other thing I noticed was that even though I knew they were demoing 1:1 motion controls I was still blown away by what they did. The amount of accuracy and precision in the controls was ridiculous.
Finally, in the video they mentioned it, but there are some things that can only be done with a controller (pulling a trigger for instance).
Natal will be awesome, but the PS3 motion controls will be more focused on gaming, similar to the Wii's.
I assumed when Sony announced motion control that it wasn't going to be a huge priority on their end. When you use a device like the Wiimote or this odd looking thing from Sony you get limited to the device. Since Natal needs no device for the system to work anything can happen. I'm not trying to be fanboyish in any way but it seems Microsoft is willing to put more effort into Natal than Sony is with the Eye hands down.
I'm all for being a lazy gamer though. But you have to admit Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (or something along those lines) would be a blast on Natal.
@tok3ninja: I don't think any FPS works with any of this controllers. I don't know about you but I don't know how to form my hand into an assault rifle and fire at the screen with my finger? And even if they did make gun controllers for COD for Natal am I supposed to carry all the diff kinds around? And even if I did you think Natal will detect all my trigger pulls of my finger? Do I have to walk in place or run in place to move?
Should have a look on Kotaku at todays "Talk Amongst Yourselves". I think the general consensus is "Natal is cool but we still want to hold something and have buttons"
Which if you think about it, kinda makes sense. Natal is limited to what you can physically do. If you can't do a high kick then you're gonna be screwed in Tekken. Natal would be nice for controlling the Dash Minority Report style, but it's not so great for proper games.
@efenili: Visual cues. A virtual hand would appear on-screen that mimics your hand, and grabbing a rifle would be controlling that virtual hand. As far as detecting the finger? I'm not sure about that but if it has the precision to detect your face, why not fingers? As far as moving around, I mentioned it to someone before: think Segway. Lean a little forward or backward. Side-step: lean sideways. Turning: turn your shoulders. Side-step & turn: lean sideways while turning your shoulders.
@ripfire: Ah, that sort of makes sense. But I still feel all the things you mentioned would be a tad bit clumsy only because you always have to stare at the screen. And grab diff guns...unless you could make the motion to holster a pistol and grab a rifle from your back. I mean I see the possibilities but it just gets really complex.
This is good to hear. Games like RPGs and fighters might be able to use modified motion controls, but it sounds tiring. If I want to grind for 5 hours to level a character, I'll do it sitting down and just moving my fingers, not hand-signaling or talking to the screen.
@kagekiri: Grinding many hours on RPG would make sense on regular controllers. However, there are times when there are items in the game where I just want to "pick up" what's visible rather than have to point my crosshairs over each one and press a button to pick it up.

If you're not good with kicking, pick Balrog(US).
