I've had rough experiences with Mad Catz. I never liked their controllers. But I've never liked any 3rd party controllers, so i guess they get a +1 for making it identical in size.
@facepuncher: I would agree with you, but their most recent efforts into the fray, the Rock Band Fender Bass and the SF4 fightpads are simply top quality controllers. I perfer the SF4 fightpad over any other controller I have now. I will give this a shot, simply because it's acutally affordable.
You're insane if you think their Rock Band Fender Bass is a quality controller. It is BY FAR the WORST 3rd party controller I've ever used for a rhythm game.
I've always wondered why original brand video game controllers are always better than the third party ones. Are third parties just handicapped by licensing fees? In the PC peripheral market, for instance, the best controls are made by specialized companies like Logitech.
@stackedrecords: Really? Because I'm sure everybody in the back loves it when you get up in front of the screen at the middle of the movie, flail your arms about just to rewind what you missed.
The reason people like Street Fighter is because they can do things they can't do it real life. If you tell me I have to actually jump kick Blanka over and over, I will tell you that will make me tired.
@Skeetz: I do agree with that. My whole problem with this type of control scheme is that it just isn't reliable. How are you going to perform a double jump in Unreal? Are your reflexes really good enough to move your whole body for a no-scope headshot? How about not falling down from exhaustion from fighting just 3 people in Fight Night? (Because you do know that even fake punches wear you out.)
I am not against the exercise inherently involved, I am just saying that it will have to be specialized games suited for the control mechanism, and for the most part, specialized games all suck, because they don't get the money and development resources needed to make a truly outstanding game.

Well in MadCatz's case it's because they'd rather make a cheap, shitty product than a cheap, quality product.

Also, didn't sega and or SegaCD do something similar once? I swear they did back in the day, but it never caught on.
