motorizr.jpgIf we're reading this correctly, the Motorola RIZR Z6c has both GSM and CDMA, meaning you can take this phone from CDMA networks in the States (Sprint/Verizon) onto GSM networks all over the world (or onto AT&T/T-Mobile). The phone's just hit the FCC so we're not sure what Motorola's plans for this are in terms of carrier distribution other than Verizon, but we do know it has EV-DO rev. 0, so that may be a hint as to which providers this is heading to (maybe Sprint?). World phones are becoming more and more popular—see BlackBerry 8830—so it means Moto wants to get in on this James Bond globe-trekking market as well. [Phonearena]

<![CDATA[Motorola MOTORIZR Z8: Preorder Now]]> If you've been craving a phone that contours to your face, the MOTORIZR Z8 slider banana phone is available for preorder. Sure, you'll have to import it for about $670, but think of the potential fun laying it out on the sidewalk and waiting for someone to slip.

Though the gag will cost you about $700, that's way less than the price of the subsequent lawsuit. We just ask that you put our ideas into some perspective before scoffing them to the trashcan of your brain.

<![CDATA[Motorola MOTORIZR Z8: Banana Slider?]]> She runs a Symbian OS, the longtime fav of Nokia handsets, and this pretty Moto seems to be robust enough to run video on its 320 by 240, 2.2-inch screen at 30 frames per second. It's 15.3mm thick, which puts it behind the Samsung Ultra waifs. But it has HSDPA high speed cellular data capability, 90MB of users mem (expandable by 4GB using microSD, and a 2.0MP cam with 8x zoom, LED flash, and red eye reduction. Really, we just like its green trim and banana slide shape. Who has a flat face, anyhow?

<![CDATA[Motorola Z8 Picture Leaked]]> motoz8.jpgThere's no real info on this to be had, but this is purportedly the upcoming Motorola Z8. It looks to be the next Motorizr, coming hot on the heels of the Z6. From the picture we can deduce that it's a slider, it has green accents, and it has a camera on the front that is probably for mobile videoconferencing.

OK, we're listening, Moto. What else ya got?

<![CDATA[KRZR and RIZR Getting Kicked Up to 3G]]> An "accidental" leak in one of Motorola's investor documents is shedding new light on a couple of upgrades to two of Moto's phones, the KRZR and RIZR. Based on a few images found inside the presentation, new versions of the KRZR and RIZR are on the way, each sporting a front-facing video camera, which more often than not means they'll be capable of taking to the Net at 3G speeds. Also mentioned was a Moto-Q2, but no other details were provided. Chances are we'll hear more on all of these mobiles at 3GSM.

<![CDATA[Groping the Motorizr Z6 Slider]]> We just got a hands-on with Motorola's Motorizr Z6 today, a new music phone with, thank jeebus, a more modern OS than what you might find on all RAZR gen phones. Motorola is notorious for their craptacularly sluggish software, and the Z6 comes loaded with a new, faster, crisper operating system. The other surprising thing is the interesting backside behind the slider, and the fact you have to hold the camphone like a digicam (landscape) to shoot. Cool.

Other than the new OS, the Z6 can handle up to 2GB of microSD memory, a 2-megapixel camera, and is designed to connect to the Windows Media Player music stores. It's available in "select markets" now with a wider release coming soon.

<![CDATA[FCC Approves MOTORIZR, Gives Daughter's Hand in Marriage]]> Now that the MOTOKRZR K1 has been fully integrated into Alltel, Verizon and Sprint, it's time for Motorola's other RAZR to make its debut. The FCC has just approved the Motorola RIZR, or MOTORIZR Z3 as its known in 14-year-old kids' chatrooms.

The RIZR has a 2-megapixel camera, microSD card slot, stereo Bluetooth and a sliding body. You can check out how the slider compares to the MOTOKRZR and the old RAZR in our Sizemodo feature, and check out all our previous coverage to see if it's right for you.

<![CDATA[Motorizr Hands On, First Impressions]]> The recently announced Motorizr ("RIZR" rhymes with Pfizer, the pharmaceutical company) made the rounds in New York yesterday and I was able to spend some time with the new kid on the block. Basically, if you're already a RAZR fan, you'll probably like the RIZR. If you're one of those people who can't stand the RAZR (either for its aesthetics, form/function or the "oh look, I have a RAZR—I'm cool!!1" mentality), the RIZR probably won't change your mind.

To me, it seemed like the RIZR was actually thicker than its RAZR cousin when it's closed. Since it's a slider, this is probably to be expected. The keypad is similar, if not identical, to the RAZR's, but, again, the smaller size of the RIZR means that everything, keypad buttons included, feels a little more cramped. The buttons push just as well as they do in the RAZR, so Motorola fans should feel right at home. The two-megapixel camera works as advertised (it takes pictures!), so no surprises there. Jump for a few more pics.

Navigating the menus is fairly paint-by-numbers, but at least there's no noticeable lag from button push to action taken like in the LG Chocolate. It should be available here in the second half of 2006, with unofficial rumblings pointing toward a Q4 release.
