Has a very nice "Stargate" feel to it. BTW, if there is anyone who watches/watched that series, did the Atlantis crew have laptops/tablets that velcroed to their uniforms?
@GitEmSteveDave_Right: Yes they did, Rodney always had his laptop velcroed to his vest whenever he went out on mission, and even in the last episode when he figured out how to create a wormhole drive for atlantis to reach earth instantly he velcroed that sucker back on to his vest and ran to the main room to activate it.
BTW, Stargate Universe looks good so far you should give that a try as well. #delllatitudext2xfr

@Nuke Dukem: The following is guaranteed BS:: I download the episodes each week to catch up as I'm usually busy on Friday. I still have to watch the last episode of Atlantis. #delllatitudext2xfr
I'd like to see this applied to a kind of hands-on sky projection at a planetarium. You lay in a room and watch the stars projected on the ceiling, then go out in the lobby and play with this loaded with lots of sky map layers (constellations, etc.). #interactivemultitouchsphere
This is one fantastic piece of complex technology, no doubt the result of years of engineering and coding to develop, finally, an elegant input and display system.
Yet, all I see is next year's Santa-in-a-snow-globe blow-up decoration at Wal-Mart. #interactivemultitouchsphere
We've been strangely fortunate. Diaz saw in the Pilantir a glimpse of the enemy's plan. Engadget moves to strike Gawker HQ! #interactivemultitouchsphere
I'm reserving judgment until I can palm one. I'm skeptical, but curious. I like the multitouch on my Early '08 MBP, but can't imagine how well it works on a mouse. #multitouch
On a touchpad, the multitouch idea works well. On a mouse though? With the idea already great, you would think this would be fantastic, but for some reason, I can't find myself justifying multitouch on a mouse, especially if I have a capable touchpad already. Super redundant, and my hands don't need more work. #multitouch
This thing will be the death of me. I don't know about anyone else, but I tap on my mouse while pages load or slide my fingers on it when I am trying to think or on the phone... so now whenever I unconsciously fiddle with it, it's going to do something I don't want it to.
Not to overlook the more basic fact that Apple is trying to replace functions that everyone was pretty happy with to begin with (Not the Mighty Mouse, but just a regular old mouse). Who here was really sitting at their desktop bemoaning 'Dammit, I really hate having to actually push down a button in order to give the command of pushing a button, and why is this scroll wheel so damn effective - can't it accidentally think I am trying to scroll at a slight angle instead of this perfect up and down nonsense?' #multitouch
Now that's what I've been waiting for. Except I didn't wait, and bought a Dell 2409 last month. Oh well, hopefully in a year these'll be 24+ inches and $200 and I'll buy one then. #dellsx2210t
@Brian Richards: Mmm. $470 is a little higher than I would spend, especially when you consider the all-in-one touch computers start around $800. But if it's multi-touch and all that, it might be worth it. #dellsx2210t
@Brian Richards: Huh... that also confirms that it's multi-touch. Cool. Also, why does the article say "We assume the system is IR-based (meaning it's limited to 2 simultaneous touch points)"? Isn't surface also IR based? And it works with 50 points, along with continuous surfaces? #dellsx2210t

And yes, I ask because I am envious of McKay.
