    I actually bought the original when it first came out. Had to grease some palms to get it shipped over to the US. It was definitely worth it. It does have a few glaring holes in it that I know can be fixed via software (such as it has no song mode, just patterns), so I'm awfully curious as to where you found that it is getting an OS update. #tenorionoorange

    @Neight: Yamaha has stated several times it has absolutely no plans to update the firmware on the Tenori-On, unfortunately #tenorionoorange

    @PDAisAok: Actually I found it:

    "To coincide with the unveiling of the new model Yamaha have also confirmed a free forthcoming firmware update for current TENORI-ON customers. Following a range of user comments Yamaha are currently in the process of creating a new operating system which is expected to be available from January 2010.The update will address a number of areas including the synching of TENORI-ON to external DAW applications and offer an improved MIDI sync implementation." #tenorionoorange

    Does it say anything about the product itself when I see this and, in my head, justify it's $1k purchase price? Or just my lack of reality when it comes to impulse buyer decision-making?

    God help me if I ever see on of these in the wild. And for the record, I'd just as soon spring for the original model. #tenorionoorange

    That was amazing. They need to do another one where you can hear more of the piano "talking" and less narration.

    I'm kind of surprised people aren't so amazed by this. It just goes to show how complex the human voice is... Maybe making a piano talk isn't that amazing, but it really let's you see all the complexities of harmonics and timbre in the human voice when you try to recreate it with a spectrum of basic notes
