No - this can not be happening. They can't just go straight from Windows 3.11 to Windows 98 in less than two weeks. At this rate they will be running Windows 2180 by the summer. And I am not referring to the year but the version number.
I love emulation, I really do, but I can not imagine a practical purpose for running Windows 98 on a Nokia cell phone. Scratch that. I can't think of a practical purpose of running Windows 98 on anything. One good thing about emulating on a cell phone, though, is that they can give me a call when they start emulating a REAL OS.
I love my G1 to death, I can't wait to see what Android does to this chart once it gets its missing features added and starts appearing on more handsets.
AT&T's data network has trouble in SOME areas which causes those 3G speeds to grind to a halt, and Apple can't do anything about forcing AT&T to create the kind of conditions required for the phone to perform at its peak everywhere. That and I'm sure this is true of most customer service, all the sales people at the AT&Ts in my area are complete idiots when it comes to knowing anything about the phones they sell.
Apple doesn't listen to it's customers and instead tells them what they should want, as a PDA with a steady connection to the internet it's great but as a phone, it lacks in areas that have been universal to most smartphones (i.e. the basic laundry list of complaints copy & paste, etc.)
@graverobber- My Yugo Nova!: Haven't had a serious problem with the iPhones in m entourage.. except for the occasional crash of Safari or some app. But the AT&T network seriously sucks, the signal strength that is.
@Thats Dr Bear to You: @soccerpro100cn: @sos10: Yeah, the iPhone seems like a great little computer, but as a phone it seems lacking. One of the features of my Verizon Razr that I like is the ability to pair with a bluetooth headset and then do voice dialing while the phone is playing pocket pool. The iPhone doesn't have anyway, at least that I am aware of, to do hands-free voice dial over bluetooth. Also, the MMS and cut/paste omissions are plain stupid.
I'd love to get an iPhone, 'cause there's lots of neat stuff to play with on it, but I can't justify the 40% jump in cost over my current plan, and there's stuff I use that the iPhone can't yet do. Also, I not unhappy with Verizon's coverage, just their crappy phones and breaking functionality in the phones they do offer.
@Jrsy is the dude, playing the dude disguised as another dude: Hahaha, I think he's secretly Matt Buchanan's alter ego where he can roam even more freely in the pretty fields of Apple fanboyism. Not that he holds back much in his natural form.
@rcast1986: I don't quite get where that's coming from. I'm on Windows more than OS X. (I think the current version of Windows Mobile is an abomination, but Android, BlackBerry and Palm--not just the iPhone--are easier to use in my opinion.)
@matt buchanan: I don't know Matt. He might be on to something there. You're here and iAirmanshirk isn't. It's kinda like how Clark Kent is never around when Superman shows up...
The iphone is a good phone i have few complaints about it. that being said have you looked at the competition same with MP3 players. Its not hard to dominate the people with marketing. Hell its what our new president.
@brutaluser: As with the primary season, the iPhone was tested out by first gen users. People who got on board really liked what they had, so a broader audience was receptive to the marketing.
Marketing + product = Apple / Obama
Marketing - product = Everything made by Sony in the last 15 years.
@92BuickLeSabre: Then how come the second one is so much shittier than the first?? I had a much better experience with the EDGE version running on 1.1.2 than the 3G on 2.2 or whatever-the-hell we're on now.
Though I still feel like it worked better (read: worked) than now. Keyboard sucks, people aren't getting my texts, call drops. I dunno. Maybe it's just my phone.
@pdditty: Even Apple haters should be glad the iPhone exists; it kickstarted innovation and competition in the smartphone market.
That said the actual device itself along with it's associated services (App Store, iTunes) are far from the perfect "Jesus phone" that fanboys make it out to be.

Unfortunately, I foresee a lot of crashing and difficulty running.
