At least, that's what these leaked official shots of the N97 Mini show. The N900 though, still looks decent.

Like, I could see actually wanting this Maemo-powered slab of Finnish tablet. [BeGeek, BeGeek, Thanks Benjamin!]

<![CDATA[Nokia N97 Set To Ship Alongside Those Other Two Phones in June]]> If this cellphone release date stuff keeps up, we'll be seeing a cellphone releasing every day in June. The latest we can add to the list is the Nokia N97.

It's the first Nokia N-series to sport a touchscreen, and you pre-ordered earlier this month, it will arrive around June 15 with the the S60 5th Edition OS on board.

European support pages for the phone are already up and running, in case you dig that sort of thing [BGR]

<![CDATA[Nokia N96 Media-Cameraphone Lands at Best Buy For $800]]> News of the European debut and pricing of Nokia's anticipated N96 slider cellphone stirred up debate about its cost: but now it's nearly here in Best Buy and yes, that $800 price tag is intact. That's clearly just for the phone, naked and un-contracted to a provider, but it's a massive amount of cash—half as much again as an unsubsidized Blackberry Bold. If you're skeptical but want to check out if the beast is worth 800 smackeroos, there'll be hands-on display units in some stores apparently. [BGR]

<![CDATA[Nokia's N-Series Wants to be Touched More]]> After Nokia set its first touchscreen phone, the 5800 XpressMusic, into the wild, one executive teased that they will be launching a new touchscreen smart phone for the N-series, wedged neatly between the iPhone and Blackberry Storm. "We will have a lot of touch screen phones coming up, including an N-series device very soon," Nokia India's Marketing Director Devinder Kishore said. Although official details and release dates have yet to be announced, the new touchscreen is rumored to hit the markets early 2009. [Cell Passion via IntoMobile]

<![CDATA[Nokia Rolls Out N85 and N79 Smartphones]]> We've had eyes on both of these for a while, but Nokia today has dropped a couple new N-Series phones into the official UK chute, and they are expected to follow stateside soon. The N85 slider (left) appears to be replacing the N81, and the N79 candybar does the same for the N78 (even though it only dropped in the US a few months ago). Gaming and music seems to be the focus of the N85, which adds N-Gage support and ditches the built-in storage in favor of an 8GB micro SD card. An AMOLED screen reduces power consumption for up to 28 hours of music playback. The N79 bumps the N78's camera up to 5MP and adds an LED flash and swappable faceplates. All feature Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G across the board, but the rumored US 3G support we're still waiting to hear for sure on. [Pocket Lint via Electronista]

<![CDATA[Leaked Pics Seem to be Upcoming Nokia N79 Cellphone]]> Over at BoyGeniusReport there's a bunch of images that seem to be leaked shots of an upcoming Nokia N-series cellphone, the N79. It's faintly similar to the N82, and supposedly has a 2.4 inch QVGA screen, and a 5-megapixel camera beneath with flash. BGR suggests we may learn more on Monday, from Nokia itself. There's also a bunch of confusion over whether the pics are real, but they certainly seem it to me, complete with its strangely pinstriped rear shell. What do you think, guys: Real or no deal? UPDATE: It looks like are pics of a Chinese-made knockoff of the N79. Oh well. [BGR]

<![CDATA[Nokia's Treo-like QWERTY N-Series Coming Late 2008?]]> If we had to add anything to Nokia's already feature rich N-series phones (the N95, for example) it would be a keyboard (or a touchscreen, but let's say keyboard here). Boy Genius has a spy shot of an upcoming N-series (not E-series) phone that has this full-sized QWERTY keyboard that's set for a 2nd half 2008 release.

Here's what they know in terms of specs: S60 3rd Edition FP2 OS, 5 or 6-megapixel camera, 30FPS VGA (640x480) video recording and a candybar form factor. To us, the keyboard's the big difference between a phone being a phone with data capabilities and a data phone. [Boy Genius]

<![CDATA[8GB Nokia N95 Coming to North America?]]> The Nokia Guide recently found on Nokia's online Nseries US Portal, an inadvertent mention of a 8GB N95 NAM (North American Model). Also listed was an 8GB N82, but it was subsequently taken off the list, while this new N95 mention was left on. Could we be seeing a refresh to the Nokia line sometime soon?

If a North American 8GB N95 is in the works, one would assume it would offer 3G wireless over US bands like its 4GB counterpart. But if Nokia really wanted to excite me, they would offer an N95 with a touchscreen and a QWERTY/SureType keyboard. [The Nokia Guide via Boy Genius Report]

It could mean that Nokia is preparing to welcome a six- or eight-megapixel phone onto the market sometime next year. [Unwired View]

<![CDATA[Nokia Teaser Site Makes Us Wonder What's In Store]]> Nokia just dropped a little teaser site, and the only clue they are giving is a small N Series emblem on the webpage. We could not possibly guess what this could all mean, but as you put your trust in us, we shall throw our thoughts in the conjecture pool: perhaps an N82, monsieur? We have been waiting weeks for the smartphone with a 5MP camera; is it finally heading our way? We shall not have to wait long to find out. In the meantime, jump for some chrometastic pictures of the N82's front and booty.

<![CDATA[EZfetch Allows Media Content Streaming From Nokia Handsets]]> We like Nokia's N series smartphones, and thanks to the EZfetch, we like them a little more. The EZfetch allows Nokia N series cellphones, with Wi-Fi, to stream media content straight to either a digital TV or audio system. The device also adds the option of using your Nokia as a remote control for the whole setup. If that was not enough, the EZfetch will also stream content from a flash drive or your PC.

The list of file types supported is never ending, but the main players are all present; JPEG, AAC, MP3, WMA, WMV, DivX, H.264 and even WMV HD 1080p. The multi platform streamer retails at $249.00, and is available for purchase now. [Product Page via Textually]

<![CDATA[Nokia Adding Devicescape Wi-Fi Utility To Make Connecting Easier]]> It can be a pain on the ass entering in Wi-Fi WEP, WPA and WPA2 passwords even on QWERTY phones, so Nokia is making things easy on their E and N-series phone users by teaming up with Devicescape. The latter's software lets you enter in connectivity information on your computer, which then gets housed on your Nokia for hassle-free Wi-Fi authentication later—No typing needed. Although Devicescape makes things slightly easier now for a cellphone with a keyboard, it could possibly enable PMPs and other devices without a keyboard to be able to connect to Wi-Fi. <![CDATA[Nokia Begins Testing its New N-Gage Experience]]> If you've been sitting at the edge of your seat since we announced the second coming of the N-Gage, your day has come. That is, if you live in Finland. Starting today and lasting through mid 2007, Nokia is giving its new "N-Gage experience" a test run along with the help of Finnish cell provider, Elisa. Unfortunately, there won't be any side-talking this time around as Nokia already said they're not re-launching the N-Gage phone, but instead working on the platform of games which will play across most N-Series phones.

<![CDATA[The N-Gage is Back, Baby]]> Oh yeah, the video game playing taco phone is back, kind of. It is "highly likely" that the N-Gage software platform will be announced at the Game Developer's Conference. It saddens me to say that the taco phone will not be relaunched, rather Nokia will be releasing the N-Gage software platform to likely work with their N-series phones. Good luck with that, Nokia. Nice to see you haven't given up.

<![CDATA[Nokia N95: Smartphone of 2007?]]> The new year is shaping up to be a good one for smartphones. Not only do we have Apple's long awaited Jesus phone coming in June, but we also have Nokia's do-it-all N95. All About Symbian got some solid playtime with the sexy slider and from their first impressions, it looks like the J-phone ain't the only smartphone capable of performing a few miracles.

For starters, they praise the phone's....

DSC03168.jpg small size. It looks big, but feels light and comfortable in the hand. Buttons are well spaced out and the device's screen shines like a lighthouse in the middle of the night. Spec freaks can expect to find a 5MP camera (Carl Zeiss optics) with VGA video (there's 150MB of memory with microSD support) USB, Infrared, Bluetooth, HSDPA, WLAN, GSM, and integrated GPS.

The N95 has also been fitted with built-in stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio jack (which apparently doubles as TV out). A new Map app lets you plan out routes in 2D or 3D. If you want turn-by-turn voice instructions, you'll have to pay up for premium service, otherwise basic route planning and street addresses are free.

So overall, there was nothing negative to be said about the N95. We're still curious about its battery life, but otherwise the only thing we can ding it for is not being in our hands yet.

<![CDATA[Vaio N Series Laptops In Grown-Up Colors: Black, Brown, White]]>
Black, grey, blue are office colors. Red, green, yellow are fun time Crayola colors. Sony's thinking that white, black, and brown are the colors of a home decorated by Ikea whores. Reach, young urbanites, reach!

The new N line of laptops comes in black, white, which we've all seen before. (I won't use the @pp1e word, promise!) And most interestingly, brown.

Wenge brown -a creamy, coffee-color made to resemble wood furniture

Now if this 15-inch, Core Duo laptop was actually made out of wood, that would be rad. You could rest a block of cheese on top when you're done computing. Right?
