How about instead of all this extraneous bullshit Youtube implements the one feature I've been craving since day one: AN OPTION TO DISABLE FUCKING AUTO-PLAY.
It's so obvious that it's ridiculous that it's taken this long.
... and yes, I already have the Firefox plugins. But I'd prefer a built-in solution. #gizmodoremainders
1080p YouTube? That just strikes me as a bandwidth consuming cost center for a user base that, 90% of the time, probably doesn't care about such exacting quality. The appeal of YouTube is its variety and amount of content alongside a very fast loading time. I really wouldn't want to wait several minutes to buffer a 1080p video of some funny clip a friend linked me to, even if it is a credible news source or a comparable professional grade video. If I wanted high-definition video of anything, YouTube would not be my choice, since I can't download it.
Granted, that's all based on my personal use, but I would wager the majority of YouTube's user base that enthuses about high definition video wouldn't choose YouTube for their 1080p wants. #gizmodoremainders
@CanadianSL: Actually, with the Download helper tool on Firefox, you CAN download youtube videos. VLC can play the .flv's, as can Quicktime when you download the Perian plugin. #gizmodoremainders
The USB FM radio could be useful sometimes when you want to listen to a channel the doesn't or won't broadcast.
For example.. A local station where I live cuts off it's online broadcast when it runs live KU football & basketball games (which is the only time I would want to listen). They cut the online broadcast because KU wants anyone listening online to be paying for the broadcast through another service they have.
Also you could use it for easy rebroadcasting of a station online... Take what you pick up over the air and broadcast it online. There might be some legal problems there. But it would be a super low budget and easy way for a small station to get their broadcast online. #gizmodoremainders
@Moe Kalbouneh: Who are you streaming it from? I stream HD content from Netflix (and sometimes Amazon Unbox, rather than via Roku) with no problems at all, and my connection averages about 18Mb. The bandwidth on a 720p stream shouldn't exceed 16 TO 20 Mb, depending upon compression (mpeg-2 or mpeg-4). Are you going through a wireless connection? If so, that could be your choke point. #gizmodoremainders
@Moe Kalbouneh: Ahh... YouTube seems to choke a lot. I suspect they have horrible bandwidth, and the number of constant users probably doesn't help. I've never been a big fan. #gizmodoremainders
a snake board is like a skateboard, but instead of having pivoting trucks, the axles are locked flat, and are turned by twisting your feet. you dont push the ground to go, you just swivel like a snake. use your google.
my buddy contracted me to design a tattoo machine frame. i was surprised to find that the mechanism isn't a standard reciprocating, electric motor driven thing, but is rather a make-break electromagnet setup.
i asked about other methods, but so far every alternative either lacked the torque required, or wasn't adjustable enough.
@nutbastard Every tattoo artist I know that has used pneumatic, loves them. They put a lot less strain on the artist on top of being slightly less painful.
@Shamoononon thanks Rocephin: My only "tattoo" is where little Susie-whats-her-name jabbed me in my wrist with a pencil in the fourth grade because I was fresh. Still have a black dot on my wrist.
i've got a pencil poke dot on the palm of my hand that has about a 5 year half-life. it gets smaller every year but i wonder if it will ever go away...
While we are talking tattoos, does anyone know if glow-in-the-dark tattoos are being done? Turn out the lights and its Autobot logo on my chest baby! Irresistible.
you could just get one that shows up under black light. It won't always be glowing, but i have never heard of a glow in the dark tattoo. How would you charge it all day? your chest would never be in the light. n@The Lab:
tattoo machines dont use electric motors, they use a make-break connection electromagnet. connection is made, magnet activates, moves forwards, breaks connection, spring pulls it back, rinse and repeat.
@zenpoet: I was in the middle of writing this big old comment about how ridiculous it is to associate tattoos with emo, but then I got bored. So instead I will just laugh at you in pity.
@Brian Looney: I can't say that it really is associated with emo. It could have just as easily been frat boy, goth chick, pirate, Yakuza, or Tongan political dissident, but what the tattoo I was looking at made me think of emo, as it was supposed to be emotionally charged.

AFAIK you dont want to alter the chemistry of the skin. being drunk while getting a tattoo causes the ink to bleed out, for instance.

Isn't it more like offering a pro skater a hover-board instead?

i, too, was wondering at what point tattoos became associated with emo. i've never considered myself as such, either before or after i got inked.

Its a wonder how some people can read without comprehension, and still comment without knowledge. I dare say that kosai got the point.
Anyway, carry on.
