    AFAIK you dont want to alter the chemistry of the skin. being drunk while getting a tattoo causes the ink to bleed out, for instance.

    a snake board is like a skateboard, but instead of having pivoting trucks, the axles are locked flat, and are turned by twisting your feet. you dont push the ground to go, you just swivel like a snake. use your google.

    my buddy contracted me to design a tattoo machine frame. i was surprised to find that the mechanism isn't a standard reciprocating, electric motor driven thing, but is rather a make-break electromagnet setup.


    i asked about other methods, but so far every alternative either lacked the torque required, or wasn't adjustable enough.


    good luck selling these to traditionalists.

    @nutbastard Every tattoo artist I know that has used pneumatic, loves them. They put a lot less strain on the artist on top of being slightly less painful.

    The only tattoo I have and will ever have is the one I did with indian ink... when I was 13.


    Talk about a constant reminder that I was, indeed, super stupid when I was young. Not saying I'm a package of brilliance now, but... you know.

    @Shamoononon thanks Rocephin: My only "tattoo" is where little Susie-whats-her-name jabbed me in my wrist with a pencil in the fourth grade because I was fresh. Still have a black dot on my wrist.

    you could just get one that shows up under black light. It won't always be glowing, but i have never heard of a glow in the dark tattoo. How would you charge it all day? your chest would never be in the light. n@The Lab:

    Perhaps pneumatics vibrate less than an electric motor? Less side to side vibrations may hurt less?

    tattoo machines dont use electric motors, they use a make-break connection electromagnet. connection is made, magnet activates, moves forwards, breaks connection, spring pulls it back, rinse and repeat.

    @Brian Looney: I can't say that it really is associated with emo. It could have just as easily been frat boy, goth chick, pirate, Yakuza, or Tongan political dissident, but what the tattoo I was looking at made me think of emo, as it was supposed to be emotionally charged.
