Sounds like someone is trying to get mentioned on TV commercials again. Nice try, but face it. The newest endorsement is "OMG!Ponies! says, "It counts. I'd buy it today.""
My iPhone was worth risking an ETF but it does not work as advertised. Which is why I've told Jobs that I won't endorse the iPhone.
My BlackBerry Curve worked as advertised but the overall plastickiness of it was not worth risking an ETF. I would not change carriers for it, so Catherine Zeta-Jones didn't have to sleep with me to keep me on T-Mo. Of course, I didn't tell her that.
To all the handset makers out there -
If both questions result in a "yes", you get my endorsement. Just imagine this copy in your next ad:
"OMG! Ponies! says this smartphone works as advertised and is worth the possibility of an onerous ETF. He also says he wants bacon. The rest of his statements are not fit for broadcast."

I'm on AT&T (with an iPhone) and looking at either the Bold or this.

"meh, what does Gizmodo know, you bunch of nerds" I just smiled and said "yup and proud of it!"
So is Giz going mainstream? Just don't go the way of Hip Hop.... once they let her out she was never the same.....

My endorsement consists of two premises:
1) Does it work as advertised?
2) Is it worth risking an ETF?
